HipCamp's Best Cabin Finalist 2022
Echo Hill is a unique camping experience because you will be camping in our private wildlife refuge. We only rent out one campsite at a time in our 100 acres of forested land, so you will have complete privacy. If you like to be alone in the woods this is the place for you. The white pine trees you see were planted by my parents over 60 years ago. We also have hiking trails throughout our wooded, rolling hills for you to explore.
It is a fantastic place to view wildlife. Our completely off-the-grid little rustic one-room cabin with a screened-in porch, by the wildlife pond, where you will camp, was built by hand by my father. (see photos) Experience our rewilding. Practice your bushcraft.
Writers, painters, musicians, and poets have created and composed in our rustic cabin by the pond. All Profits from the campsite go toward maintaining our native wildlife refuge. We are private property and not a public campground.

This is a unique camping experience. You will be the only campers here so you will have complete privacy. If you enjoy being in the woods alone this is the place you.
You will have the use of our one room primitive cabin with a screened-in front porch, facing one of our natural wildlife ponds. You may set up your tent or put your cot in the cabin for sleeping. There are lawn chairs, a round wooden table and a fire pit that are included in your campsite. You also have access to our 100 acres of wooded, hilly, hiking trails. Practice your bushcraft.
You will be camping in our private wildlife habitat sanctuary where we protect native Ontario wildlife. Deer, raccoons, opossum, wild turkey, fox, turtles, water fowl and beaver. A huge variety of migratory birds pass through here. At night you may hear coyotes call. A Great Blue heron, muskrats, frogs and snapping turtles live in the pond in front of your campsite. (It is a wildlife habitat pond - not a swimming pond.) Children must be supervised at all times.
Many artists and writers have been inspired to create paintings, books, plays and poetry here. Experience our re-wilding.
Free non-potable water is available at the barn. Drinking water is available in our "Hipcamp Extras". The cabin is completely off the grid so there is no electricity or running water at your primitive campsite. It is private enough to hang up a sun shower from a tree.
Help yourself to free firewood from the branches on the ground in the forest near your campsite for your campfire in the fire pit.
You will be the only people using the primitive composting pit outhouse located right behind your cabin.
We live a secluded 15 minute walk away from your campsite, in a house near the barn, where you will park your car. Plan on carrying your camping gear on a 10 minute hike, down a big hill from your car to your campsite/cabin. Pack for a portage.
