For the last 25 years we have lived here on our 6 acres of property where our Maple Sugar Bush allows us to produce our very own maple syrup every spring. [Side note: The sugar shack itself has been on the property for over 40 years.] We also raise a small but varied collection of farm animals, grow vegetables, and operate a 3 generation (Mother, Daughter, and Granddaughter) Artisan Craft Business, that sells handmade "Canadiana Themed" Home Decor goods and Maple Products at our local Farmer's Market. ( Visit us on Instagram or Facebook @Blackmaplefarm) Our Farm is located on the very edge of the Canadian Shield, so most of the landscape is a rocky, rugged, and naturally wooded. Throughout the property are numerous short, looping, walking trails that meander throughout the Sugar bush, pasture area, 3 season pond, and our farm animal "homes". These trails are perfect for short nature walks, where you'll experience natural wildflowers and plants, see and hear song birds, small animal wildlife and of course, farm life too. We are also located on the edge of the Eastern Ontario "Dark Sky" Area, which means we have a very nice view from the edge of our pasture of the North Sky stars on a clear night, with very minimal light pollution. Our varied collection of farm animals includes; lots of chickens, (including roosters who DO crow in the early morning hours), miniature goats, horses, a couple of barn cats, and a dog. During your stay with us you are welcome to come learn about and interact with our animals and daily farm life, if you so desire, and farm fresh eggs and maple syrup are also available to purchase too.

Maple Grove Campsite

A Hidden Gem Near Gananoque

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming campsite near Gananoque, and it exceeded all my expectations. One of the highlights was the incredibly clean outhouse, which was well-maintained with thoughtful touches like proper lighting and a washstand complete with a fresh towel. It's rare to find such attention to detail at a campsite, and it made a significant difference in the overall experience. The campsites are walk-in, but don't let that deter you—they're very close to the parking area, so it's not a hassle at all. The location is perfect for exploring the 1000 Islands region. I highly recommend taking the cruise to Boldt Castle, which was a stunning experience. As for the additional offerings, don't miss out on the fresh bread, honey, and maple syrup available nearby—they were absolutely delicious. Lisa and her family were welcoming and friendly, making my stay even more enjoyable. I had encountered a difficult situation (entirely my fault) previous to this trip, but Lisa's prompt and thoughtful solution left a lasting impression on me. Her integrity and dedication to providing top-notch service set this campsite apart from others. Overall, this campsite is a true gem with outstanding hospitality, excellent amenities, and a prime location. I can't recommend it enough!

The Stargazer Bunkie

Black Maple Cabin Trip!

I had a lovely time staying two nights in the Stargazer cabin. Lisa and her family were more than welcoming. It was the perfect combination of glamping. The Cabin was warm, cozy, and had a great view of Tango the horse. I had a great time watching the animals on the farm and would love to come back given the chance.

Stargazer's dream

We had an amazing time staying on Lisa's land. The Bunkie was perfectly nestled beside the horse's grazing pasture and the ideal place for stargazing. The Bunkie was comfortable and Lisa went the extra mile, being super communicative when we needed it, to make our stay really positive. We loved interacting with the farm animals (goats, chickens and horse) and enjoyed the BBQ and fireplace as well. The eggs, maple syrup and bread from the farm made the trip all the more special and I highly recommend ordering them for your stay! Thank you Lisa, we will be back!
