Welcome to Almost Paradise in Northern Ontario. We are 15 minutes off the Trans Canada highway, north of Blind River. 5-6 hours northwest of Toronto and 9 hours east of Thunder Bay, between Sault Saint Marie and Sudbury. Looking for a wilderness get away or just driving through? We can accommodate. Need internet? We have Starlink!. We also have star gazing and sunsets! As a new camp spot, upgrades at Almost Paradise are ongoing, including renovations to make a house into a cottage. Our 4 season camper, equipped with a woodstove is also now back at Almost Paradise and is available again for those that need accommodations and want a rustic and cozy option. Backwater Paradise was flooded out from a very wet spring and Almost Paradise was created as a backup. We have a new seasonal shower unit at this location, available to all our campers. Check out our extras!! We have 1 tent site, 1 RV site and a 4 season camp with an extra 4 person dome tent to accommodate extra people. This past winter was very forgiving and gave us the opportunity to work on a new bush trail at Backwater Paradise, for visiting nature lovers and plan on keeping it useable in winter. The trail is available to all our campers. . Some is lakefront and some is marsh. There is seasonal berries everywhere here. Please bring binoculars!! Almost Paradise has all of the same benefits as Backwater Paradise campers and just across the road. Including use of the lake, and the nature trail to Left Field and all of the extras. (eggs, firewood sales, shower and paddle boat) In Lake Hope there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area with firepit and a picnic table to enjoy the water and the shoreline. Lately a family of geese have been frequent visitors over there. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. Almost Paradise has a gravel driveway and slopes towards the lake so you still get a good view of the lake. The driveway is the best spot for an RV. Our Muscovy ducks are at Almost Paradise, beside the camping. They are quiet but funny looking 😊 The next property over is our farm, where we free range our chickens and ducks with 2 livestock guardian dogs. Fresh eggs are available.This site is suited for those looking for accommodations any time of year. We have outfitted a camper with a woodstove and metal roof. Its very cozy and sleeps 4 in 2 beds. 1 bed is full size double bed and the other is the fold down table for 2 cozy adults or some kids. 😊 We also have a 4 person dome tent that comes with this camp. There is a mini fridge and stove with 3 burners for cooking that works on propane. In the cupboards is 4 plates, drinking cups, utensils, cookware, coffee making supplies plus a few extras such as, blankets and pillows we wash between visitors. There is a flushing toilet with running water just steps away. The shower is available as an extra for 5$. This seasonal shower will not be available during winter months and an outhouse is brought on site. We have seasonal activities such as ice fishing, snowshoeing and close to snowmobile trails, fishing, paddle boat and swimming. Like all our camps stargazing, nature watching and exploring our property is encouraged.

Almost Paradise Tent 1

Gracious host who helps you with whatever you need and local information. Would have liked to see her animals but it poured rain when I was there. Tranquil place to camp

4 Season Trailer Camp

The host directed me to take Hwy 557. Parking in front. The camper RV super clean. Weather got chilly so I paid extra for hot shower. Worth it. The bathroom was spotless. The wood stove in the RV came in handy. Lighter in the kitchen. Egg holders under the wood stove for starting a fire and firewood and a bottle of water close by. All lights worked in RV. If you don't need the fridge, use the power cord for charging your Internet-of-things. Blind River has restaurants, gas stations, banks, etc.

Solitude!

We loved camping on Jackie's property. So quiet and dark at night. Wonderful night sky experience. Her property is so secluded that hers is the only property on her lake. Absolutely loved it.

Almost Paradise Tent 1

I loved the location. Really nice view on the lake. Jackie was really nice and let me chose any spot I wanted as I was alone. She also gave me a lot of wood for the fire and even some to make more smoke for the mosquitoes.

Almost Paradise RV

Booked this last minute, the host was very accommodating and welcoming. Pet friendly with a firepit, and a lake, what more can you ask for.
