The Ship Wreck is a secluded getaway on Hennigar Lake 45 minutes from Halifax. It includes a converted 29’ sailboat, a large open air cookhouse including a wood fired pizza oven and propane fridge and stove and a wash house with composting toilet and gravity fed sink. In May we will have available a further sleeping accommodation featuring an antique double bedstead. An outdoor shower can wash away a day’s labours! Added amenities include kayaks, a horseshoe pitch, two fire pits, a play area including a basketball court and a hammock beneath the overhanging trees. A new 10’ by 15’ tenting / chilling area sits beneath the trees next to the amenities. Sandy walkways connect the beach to all of the different elements. Multiple spots around the property invite quiet reflection. Take your shoes off and stay a while… and if it’s Spring or Fall know that the rocket mass heater can keep you warm on the coolest, rainiest days.Welcome to the Ship Wreck - take your shoes off and stay a while. Swim or paddle; make pizza or relax with a book. Hike or bike nearby trails. Throw a few horseshoes or make some art. Rain or shine we have you covered! We are only 15 minutes from shopping and local tourist sites ( Chester, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg) are within 40 minutes drive. Yet, the privacy is guaranteed to sooth your soul.

LOVED IT!!
We absolutely enjoyed our stay ! We stayed 2 nights but could have stayed a whole 2 weeks. It was so peaceful and full of unique art all around - so fun to explore! Bryan has many pleasant seating areas, hammock area and fire pits along the land that were really nice reading or relaxing nooks. (Again: wish I could have stayed longer ! ☺️) The Shipwreck cabin is equipped with many books and games for every age and interests - a real treat to go through. Even if night outside temps were a bit cold (-8 to -10 degrees), the unique rocket mass heater kept us comfortably warm. The outdoor kitchen was well equipped , pizza oven was SO MUCH fun! We will certainly be back in the warmer months to enjoy the lake and outdoor shower. Great place for family getaways too - bringing the grandkids and dog next time.

Amazing Stay!!
We had an amazing stay! The outdoor kitchen and indoor Ship Wreck accommodation were artistic, beautifully designed, comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay. The pizza oven was great and we had so much fun making our own pizzas. The outdoor shower and dish washing station with on demand hot water was so convenient and the lake front location was beautiful. Watching a meteor shower from the beach was icing on the cake. Bryan really thought of everything to make out stay enjoyable and comfortable! We will definitely be back!

The Ship Wreck
The ship wreck was a unique stay and we enjoyed ourselves. Everything was thought out with regards to visitors needs. There were lots of chairs for sitting, water towns, towels and a welcoming gift basket. The outdoor kitchen had everything we needed and more. Best pizza we’ve ever had made inside the wood pizza oven. I wish we lived closer so we could come back again.

The Ship Wreck is truly a lovely and unique experience - with wonderful artistic touches and attention to detail. We were entirely private and particularly enjoyed all the different areas - cooking/washing/ various fire pits and seating areas- all connected by sweet little paths. And Bryan was hugely generous and helpful!

We had a wonderful time at the Ship Wreck! Bryan greeted us upon arrival and was very welcoming! There were thoughtful extras provided that we enjoyed. This accommodation worked out perfect for the weather, some wind and rain. The outdoor kitchen was great, we could spend time outside and stay dry! Nice artwork at the Ship Wreck!

Awesome stay again!
With pets
This was our 2nd time staying at the shipwreck! We loved it as much as our first time. The kid's playground and basketball court were a lovely addition. Our 4 year old was entertained the whole time. As always, Bryan is a fantastic host, and he truly cares about his guests. Easy to communicate with and he will make sure that you're comfortable. Will be staying again!
