Moo Nay Farms is a located in Cooks Brook, Nova Scotia, about an hour from Halifax and 20 minutes from our local airport. We are a 100 acre free range beef, pig and rabbit farm, and horse boarding facility on a corner bordering on 2 rivers, a running brook and a sitting on a huge pile of sand. We encourage our campers to also be free range and choose any nice quiet spot they find, a wide open sand lot, along the river, or deep in the woods. Campers are free to set up tents and sites on either side of the pasture, I don't allow trailer campers in the pastures as the cows tend to like to use them as scratching posts and can damage units. You never know when a litter of piglets is going to be born, a new calf arrives, or when the cows will skip the fence and we call on ya for a cattle drive, but always guaranteed something interesting is going to happen on the farm. We welcome campers to bring their pets responsibly, please be aware it is a livestock farm. For people vacationing or travelling with horses, we have stalls and paddocks available and plenty of sand arenas and trails to ride in. Key features of the property are definitely the livestock, horses, a beautiful swimming or fishing hole at the corner of the property tons of walking or biking trails, a beach volleyball court, huge bbq pit, firepit area complete with seating, bbq capable of roasting whole hogs if you're planning a party event or gathering. With 100, very accessible acres, so many things to do, to learn about free range farming, and country life, we're sure you will find a beautiful location to enjoy nature on our farm, and lots of fun for the kids.Moo Nay Farms is 100 acres of an old horse racing farm..bordering on a river and crossroad..with lots of sand, fields, trails, free range beef, pigs and bunnies, can often see baby piglets on site. Horses here but boarded..no access to ride unless you bring your own horses, and no feeding please. If you cross the river there is a corner of land on a hill divided by two rivers where 2 eagles nest..often seen flying around. Lots of ducks, turtles, wild birds and deer. The right time of year you can pick from acres of fiddleheads, cranberries, blackberries, or magic mushrooms in the pastures if you choose. Please take them home with you and do not consume here. We can host pig roasts on farm for large number of guests, lots of laying wood in forests for campfires or bonfires when burning regulations suit. Barns and stalls for horses if you want to bring them, bring your own feed, 180 foot round arena..60 foot round arena and 250 x 750 sand area for horse or people play..lots of mud..one of my personal favorite things to do here is choose the best soft muddy area and build a mudbath. Sometimes I can host..give tours, entertain..and sometimes you might get asked to help stack hay, or chase a loose cow, but that's part of the adventure. Open to hosting events that require large open sand areas..music, horse, sand drags, ox pulls, truck pulls, or just a night, few days or week of fun, relaxation and free range experience. Parking and tenting can be in many areas however only tents will be allowed set up inside the fenced livestock area as cows like to use vehicles as scratching posts. RVs and Campers only available outside of pastures and a different site here on our Hip Camp Page. Check out our Facebook page for more info on our farm..Moo Nay Farms.

Free Range Camping
The gardeners go camping
Booking was easy and Melvin responded to all my messages quickly. This was my first booking through Hipcamp and it exceeded my expectations. A group of 7 gardeners we all love nature and the outdoors so reading moo nay farms profile discription checked all the boxes. We chose to camp in the pasture in my opinion was the most beautiful part of the property. This location was the farthest away from the bathroom and running water but was no concern with a portable loo and jugs of water. We picked a shady flat area on the old horse track perfect for tenting! The pigs and horses made their presence known especially when cooking. Had to make sure all the food was put away and no garbage left out. Wasn’t an issues we were on it and LOVED the company. If you have reactive dogs with bad recall this may not be the best option for you. Weather was amazing, we spent the whole day Saturday scattered under an old hawthorn enjoying the cool breeze. Saw red tail hawks, waxwings, woodpeckers, nuthatches and finches. Spotted some beautiful dragonfly’s by the mud ponds and black swallowtail butterfly’s. In the evening we walked down to the river for a sunset dip. Had fires within the burn ban restrictions and there was plenty of dry wood around to burn. Was so relaxing and met all of our camping expectations We will be back!

Free Range Camping
Awesome!
Melvin’s land was awesome. We had lots of areas to set up a tent to choose from and our dogs had a blast. We weren’t sure how our 4 year old dog would do seeing the horses and pigs. After some barking, he seemed to do just fine! Such a cool experience. Melvin was easy to connect with and responded to texts quickly. We will definitely be returning

Free Range Camping
Loved it!
I loved camping on Melvin's land! When we arrived he showed us around, he told us we could camp anywhere on his land. What we loved the most was the free roaming animals, he had pigs with piglets, rabbits, and horses. The kids loved that there was sand pits that they could dig in. There was a fire pit close to our site with a bbq big enough to roast a pig which is pretty good if you were wanting to have a party there. The owner was very nice and welcoming and went above and beyond for us and we would definitely camp there again.
