Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Beautiful property surrounded by mountains and canyons. It's a hiker's paradise and with cooler weather will be perfect! It was raw land but with many years of hard work it is finally looking awesome and is ready to share the love. Many local places to explore for the true "Hippie Hiker" or artist.A humble tin roofed cabin that is quaint, cozy and VERY comfortable. It is very quiet out here except for the occasion distant howl of coyotes and our dogs howling back. You must love dogs since we have 3 medium (Austrailan Shepherd full and mixes) and 2 little (12 to 15 lbs) lap warmers. An easy drive to White Sands National Monument, or to the mountains and snow in Cloudcroft. Beautiful star-filled night skies, clean air, wide open spaces that will spur you with a sense of adventure and creativity. I am especially open to Artists, Musicians, Writers...whatever art you do, the beauty and peaceful environment of staying here-the sheer beauty- is sure to inspire your next masterpiece.
What to expect
Cabin
You'll have this Hipcamp all to yourself.
3 guests max
Toilet available
Flush toilet. Dependent upon where you want to stay, there are facilities.
No campfires
This is a FULLY furnished cabin. It has an antique Benjamin Franklin heating stove and all cooking accomodations. We have currently one fire pit that you are welcome to and will be building more.
No pets
I do have 3 friendly Neutered, spayed Australian Shepherds either full blooded or mix dogs. I have three neutered and spayed 12 lb or a little more heavier "therapy" dogs for my daughter. I have tried the "dogs allowed" thing and my dogs get too upset and want to meet and play with the newcomer so it just causes too much tension...so sorry no dogs nor pets, they are more comfortable at home.
Potable water available
Spigot, tap, hose, pump or well, bottled water or jugs. I have a cabin that will house 2 or 3 people comfortably. I also have a 19 foot, fully contained travel trailer that will accomodate 2 adults
Showers available
Hot water . I have a 1938 cast iron clawfoot tub in the cabin, since it holds an "antique" theme and in the travel trailer a travel trailer shower. The clawfoot tub has a "hand held" shower sprayer attachment with a fully encircled shower curtain. I have provided a shower bench if you'd like to use it for showering or just soak in the tub, then do a final rinse with the shower sprayer. I have had NO complaints and if you are under 5'4" you can stand up in the tub. Lots of hot water and soap and everything you will need to get squeeky clean!
Bins available
Trash bin. Yes, SEVERAL bins! I clean the cabin so I will take care of the trash but if you have a lot of trash, I have an additional lined can outside the front door and another trash bin around the corner and several large bins to the north. We do "dump runs" weekly or as necessary so you will be taken care of!!!
Cooking equipment present
Oven, stovetop or hot plate, fridge, freezer, cookware, cooking utensils, dishware, cutlery, basic seasoning and oils, sink or other dishwashing station. Kitchen with full accomodations, microwave, toaster oven, apartment sized range, all pots, pans, dishes, etc provided. It's like I live there but you all are just hanging out!!
Picnic table present
Outside seating which comprises several benches, a table, chairs etc.
Wifi available
Since I do have satellite internet not bad for the country!

Beautiful sunsets! The Tin Roofed Cabin is a quiet and secluded place, at the end of a long dirt road. Close to White Sands National Park when you want to visit, but there's also lots to explore right here too. The cabin is clean, cozy, and comfortable with everything you might need for a night or an entire week.

The views were amazing of the mountains and white sands national park. Waking up and looking out the kitchen window and seeing all the humming birds at the feeders was a very peaceful way to start each day. De was very informational and extremely nice, she gave us so many ideas of places to see, areas to hike and where the best hot springs are. We would definitely go back, but we will need to extended our trip!

Very satisfied with this experience. The cabin was near her house but felt like a completely private experience. De had all the amenities we needed. Enjoyed a campfire late into the night. Bed was comfy. Quick drive to White Sands. And the dogs and horses were friendly! Thanks again De.

Disappointing
Dee was very nice and welcoming. The directions were clear and we found the cabin easily. The night sky was clear and spectacular. The bed was comfortable, and the cabin was clean. However, the cabin was very close to the other (several) structures on the site and there was a lot of junk strewn about the area. When we arrived, Dee advised us that the septic system was on the fritz, needed to be pumped out, and could we refrain from flushing anything paper???? That statement really discouraged from using the plumbing at all! For $83.00 for one night (including taxes, fees, etc) we were very disappointed and had it not been 6:30 pm on New Year's Eve, we'd have gone elsewhere and asked for a refund. Sorry to leave a bad review, but we really think Dee should have notified us before we arrived so that we could consider making other plans.

Nature, Puppers, Quail, Oh my!
Honestly, way exceeded my expectations. The cabin was located at the end of dead end street close to Dee's home and was well stocked, well maintained, and clean. We stayed there as a stopover before our trip to White Sands which is like 1/2 hour away. Dee is close by for any questions and will respect your privacy if that's what you're looking for but honestly we really enjoyed hanging out with her and the dogs, the quail and rabbits! We only stayed for one night but wished we had more time there. We liked our little spot so much rather than go out for dinner we stayed in chilled, cooked on the fully functional kitchen and then built a fire in the firepit. We couldn't figure out the Edison stove but the heaters Dee provided all the heat we needed. The dogs made us feel extra safe! We even hiked behind the house for a couple of hours before sitting underneath the stars with a fire. Lovely lovely night, that day was one of the highlights to our trip. My sister and I look forward to staying there again in the future and bring our mother and visiting the other nearby sites. I'm so happy i came across this listing on Hipcamp.

Desert beauty, peaceful vibe
It was quiet and peaceful surronded by land she invited us to explore. The cabin was warm and cozy at night, turned on the fans during the day; she let us build a fire in the wood-burning stove one night, and used her fire pit another night. Everything was clean and comfortable, she had extra toiletries in case you forgot anything. We could come and go as we pleased but she was available if we had any questions, a great hostess.
