A unique transforming A-frame camping cabin occupies a compact area, certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a wildlife habitat yard and recognized as a certified garden and monarch waystation through monarchwatch.org.
TSKY is located 3 miles from Long Bow boat dock on Cave Run Lake, 10 minutes from the Sheltowee Trace National Recreational Trail, and 18 miles to the adventures in the Red River Gorge. Outdoor seekers and enthusiasts will appreciate the nature trails, the lake's pristine waters, and the opportunity to explore the Daniel Boone National Forest.
There are short hikes within a 20-minute drive each offering its own unique discovery; arches, an overlook, a cave, and a 60-foot waterfall nestled within a small scenic canyon. With so much natural beauty to explore, your stay at our A-frame camping cabin is a perfect base place to Embrace Nature's Pace. The rustic a-frame space is graveled. There are no hookups at this site - no electricity. There is a separate changing building for guests to utilize if more space is needed.
There is a full-size bed/futon with 2 memory foam-covered cushions for comfort. Please bring your own bedding items. (There are no pillows, sheets, comforters, or blankets.)
Guests have a view of the back woods behind the resident's main a-frame cabin, where we can learn about other KY mushrooms, plants, trees, and native fruits. When the fruits are in season, guests can try a few - elderberries, serviceberries, gooseberries, grapes, strawberries, groundcherries, and more through your purchase as an EXTRA on Hipcamp when offered. On-site by the cabin will be a flower bed of spearmint, mint, lemon balm, and lemon grass - please feel free to pick a little and leave a lot for other guests. The plants also aid in deterring insects. (No pesticides are ever used!) (***The short trail, in the woods, is CLOSED until further notice. Poison ivy.)
Please know we feed the bees, butterflies, and birds by planting native and specific plants. (***If you are allergic to any species of bee or wasp, we are sorry - perhaps we aren't the right fit. While the honeybees and carpenter bees are generally docile, we want to keep everyone safe. Note: The carpenter bees act bold and fly close to you. However, they are male and do not have stingers.)
While we love the string lights at night, we try to limit light pollution for our friends - the fireflies -in the early summer evenings. (Please feel free to use the lights if you'd like. However, if you want a spectacular firefly show or to gaze up at the stars, off is best.) ***The cicadas are present and can be quite loud at times.
Please know that the main aframe and neighbors can be seen from the site from certain areas at TSKY. Just as a campground 'neighbors' can be heard and the residents of the main a-frame may be outside and drive by your site to enter or exit the property. No worries, your space is partially fenced in for privacy.
The short county road to TSKY is a graveled deadend 1 lane road. The driveway to the site is graveled with an incline to exit. Some guests need to back out to exit. Tall vans and trucks will not be able to park in the driveway due to tree branch 'arches' over the driveway. There is 1 spot to park in front of the sailboat. Please do not attempt the driveway with large and tall vehicles.
*The property is not flat... it is sloped.
**There is an outdoor security camera on the property for safety.
