This farm is ancestral land of the Sauk and Fox peoples and has been our home since 2001. It offers diverse natural beauty including fresh springs and the Tetes des Morts Creek, quiet woods on sloping bluffs, various songbirds and other wildlife. We tend a few sheep and a flock of 20 laying hens, a small orchard and large vegetable gardens. Our black Labrador retriever wanders around here freely. The tiny house will be cleaned and sanitized per COVID protocols prior to your arrival. Hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies are provided for guest use during your stay.Our off the grid 12x14’ cedar cabin sits beside a meadow in a small grove of trees. A freshwater spring runs behind the cabin. There are views of wildlife and woods out the picture window at the front. Woodstove heat, propane cook stove, and drinking water provided inside. Fire pit, picnic table, composting toilet, and solar shower (seasonal).

Mary was an exceptional host--very communicative and accommodating. The cabin itself is a perfect retreat with a well stocked cooking area, a comfy bed, and a serene view. Would definitely return to enjoy Galena, the Maquoketa cave State Park, and the farm.

Perfect no fuss camping!

My husband and I stayed here for our 15th anniversary. The cabin is absolutely adorable, the property is beautifully peaceful, and the location just outside the city affords both serenity and a wealth of activity options. Being truly off the grid (no phone, no internet) was such a breath of fresh air. We would love to stay again!

This cabin is in such a beautiful location between a spring and a meadow. Mary was very thoughtful in furnishing everything we would need. We had a very relaxing weekend and would definitely come back again!
