The property has been in my family for over 40 years and was originally settled in the mid 1800's. It is about 10 acres and is primarily wooded with Cedar, Oak, Maple, Hickory and Birch. The topography is diverse, having steep heights, easy flats and everything in between; which makes hiking fun and interesting. The lower College Drive side features a historic limestone homestead and quarry, also a fossil rich creek-bed and rustic (4WD) road to the top. The upper property (Hwy. 52 access) offers a secluded forest as well as a spacious meadow. The woods are filled with birds and many other indigenous wild animals. We are only a half mile from towns edge and two miles from its center (also a five minute drive from Luther College). The Decorah area is well known for its scenic natural beauty and has extensive hiking trails, biking trails, cross-country ski routes, rivers, creeks and hunting areas. People come here year round for our outdoor recreation and beauty. Canoeing, Kayaking, Fishing, Tubing, X-country skiing, and Trail Riding are very popular activities around here. Bring a side-by-side or ATV and have a blast both on the property and around the area. Decorah has several museums, a movie theater, 2 golf courses and bowling alley in addition to dozens of charming shops and several restaurants. You'll never get bored staying at Cedar Springs.

Must See! Great Stay!
My husband and I loved this stay with our two boys 6 and 8! So much to explore on site and in Decorah. We found a ton of fossils down in the dried creek bed and hiked to the abandoned building to check them out. The weather was perfect so no need for temperature control but both heat and air available. We knew it would be a tight squeeze for us but with a few camping pads on the floor we cozied up and all fit, about 6’x9’. Plenty of space for a tent too! All the pictures are accurate and really show how amazing it is! You should stay here!

A couple nights at this small cabin
The small cabin was so cute and easy to get to from the small town of Decorah! The view was great, everything was so peaceful and beautiful!

What a cool spot ! This site is tucked away behind the tree line for ultimate privacy and opens up to a quarry that has great views in the morning. Stayed here comfortably with 3 adults (1 in the greenhouse & 2 in a tent). The greenhouse has pretty much everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the owners were quick with responses to my questions. It was such an easy, quick drive into town too to visit restaurants and breweries. Would stay again and would recommend!

Magical Experience!
What a magical location! The greenhouse is adorable and cozy with lots of nice touches that made our stay complete. The location is spacious, provides a gorgeous view of the bluffs below, and is close enough to town for adventures yet far enough away to make the experience feel intimate. The host made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. We’ll definitely be back!

This site was a lovely private spot close to Decorah. We loved the view of the quarry and the private setting. The greenhouse was set up very nicely with lots of thoughtful details. We had one adult stay in the greenhouse and the rest of us in tents nearby. The ground was a little bit sloped for tents but we made it work. Thanks for sharing your sweet spot!

Relaxing at base camp
We travelled to the Decorah area to kayak on the Upper Iowa River. This site gave us the opportunity to cook over the campfire, yet have electricity and air conditioning. This was base camp for us while we explored the area. The location was great, the property is beautiful, and Thais was a great host.
