Come enjoy off grid camping in the oaks in a beautiful natural setting. Our area is world renowned for it's stargazing and the campsites are only 2 miles from Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park (which offers over a hundred miles of hiking trails and great wildlife watching), 25 minutes to Lake Okeechobee and the city of Okeechobee. 45 minutes to Sebring Raceway and Highlands Hammock State park and within range of many nearby natural areas and hiking including the Florida Trail.
Prairies Oaks Camp is nestled in the trees and offers private campsites with shade on a level grassy lot surrounded by views of the surrounding forest on all sides. A great place for birding, wildlife watching and enjoying nature.
The camp area is equipped with an odorless, eco- friendly composting toilet and a gravity/solar shower that holds 35 gallons(needs to be filled with water manually). Otherwise, the site is primitive camping with no running water. You must bring your own firewood (no firewood cutting or tree cutting and fires only in designated fire pits). Bring everything you need and leave only footprints.
RV camping ONLY in site # 2 and there is a 5 day max stay for RVs unless otherwise arranged with host.
