Over the past 6 years this raw land with only the Glen Eden trail going through it Has been transformed into a working farm and ranch. Spectacular views of Clearlake and Mt Knocti make coffee time watching the sunrise breathtaking.

Lee was very communicative and gave excellent directions about getting to his property. It is out there and there is no cell service so it is important to pay attention. The views from the campsite were amazing.

Similar to what others have stated, pretty cleared and easy road, but is steep in some areas. Definitely recommend at least an AWD vehicle. If you have a Van or a vehicle with a RTT, you can’t get to the tent with a view site. Lee was very friendly and welcoming. Clear and easy directions to the property. Lee also showed us around the ranch, including all the wonderful rabbits!

Not as advertised
I have used hip camp many times and this was the first time where I felt like this was not what I expected at all. The property resembled a junkyard with lots of vehicles and trash within view of the site. The site itself was a fine patch but was truly surrounded by junk. The host had two dogs running free, one of which, jumped onto our car and scratched the door very badly, tried to hump us , and even stole one of our Chaco shoes overnight from outside our car. We could not find the shoe or the host when trying to leave. I never leave bad reviews and genuinely wanted to like this place but it was simply not as advertised and an uncomfortable experience overall. Would not recommend unless the property was cleaned up and the dogs were kept away.

Incredible views. An adventure on a 4-wheel drive on a dirt road close to Blue Lakes. Owner, Lee, was very responsive.

One of the coolest campsites I’ve ever been to. Absolutely stunning views of Clear Lake and surrounding mountains. Blue Lake is a short drive away (can’t hike to it) and there’s a hiking trail right off property that snakes down into the valley. We weren’t sure how far it goes so we did a quick out and back. Echo-ing what others have been saying in previous reviews. The drive up in no joke…but that’s how you get to these amazing spots!! I had 4X4 Truck that made it no problem and my friend had an AWD Mazda that was no problem either. I think anything with 4X4 or AWD with decent clearance should be fine. Lee was a gracious host and super communicative. He was actually out when we showed up but organized a friend Mary Jane to lead us up and she was great. Highly recommend this spot if you have a vehicle that can make it!
