Nexus of adventure & hospitality
Stewardson Inlet “View of the Inlet” is the perfect nexus of adventure, local culture and hospitality for campers.
From our first communication via Hipcamp, Ron’s warm vibe and superb hospitality made us feel like family ~ including our two pups! He was prompt for arrival at the boat launch and stepped right in to help us load our gear into the boat. When we arrived at camp, he guided us to our tent pad and surprised us with a little tasting from the land.
He shared the secrets of the inlet including a waterfall hike to the camp’s water source, foraging for fresh oysters, an exclusive sunset visit to hot springs cove and a private excursion to an abandoned logging camp on a private island. We enjoyed campfire company, shared stories of our adventures and learned about the land and local First-Nations communities. Whatever adventure you are seeking, Ron will be your guide!
On the final day of the trip, my orca sighting dream came true as I saw a large orca breach behind the boat on our trip back to Tofino. Despite the timetable of return, Ron generously gave his time and allowed us to watch two baby orcas and their parents hunt along the shores of Flores Island.
All in all, Ron is a steward of the land and a contributor to his local community. We look forward to returning to this magical place and seeing everything Ron has in store for the land come to fruition! We couldn’t have picked a better place to spend our 10-year wedding anniversary with our fur babies.

View of the inlet
I really don’t think I can say enough good things about this place I completely loved it! A true paradise. Im horrible with reviews and don’t leave them often so the fact I felt the need to leave one means a lot! I’m excited to follow the growth and amazing ideas they have planned for the place and will definitely be coming back as soon as I can!
Thank you guys so much again for everything!

An Incredible Other Side of Tofino
It can't be understated: visiting Stewardson Way is a bucketlist experience. An extremely scenic boat ride from Tofino leads to a pristine Mecca of activity + beauty hosted by the charismatic and knowledgeable Ron & Mandy. While simply soaking in the beauty would be enough to make the journey worthwhile, there is a plethora of things to do including hiking to multiple waterfalls, exploring abandoned logging camps, paddling around and exploring the inlet, going on scenic boat rides looking for sea caves and wildlife such as otters and cetaceans, stargazing with no light pollution, visiting nearby Hot Springs Cove, fishing, waterskiing, and the list goes on. The spacious tent pads are some of the best places you will ever have the pleasure of pitching your tent, with amazing views of the inlet and warm sun rising in the morning to dry the dew. We were lucky enough to see a porpoise mother and baby while boating one evening, as well as able to spot a lone porpoise swimming by directly from our tent pad. There’s a tap to fill up your water, or be like us and fill up from the many streams on the property (filtering recommended, of course). Ron and his team have done a great and on-going job of fostering a fantastic environment to relax in nature and truly experience the west coast, without hordes of tourists. If you’re wanting to visit Hot Springs Cove, do yourself a favour and call up Ron to not only visit the cove, but stay a night or two just a quick boat ride away. 10/10 time!

In the Forest with an ocean view
Absolutely amazing! YOU HAVE TO GO!
This was a bucket list level experience!! Exceeded our expectations on every front. Not only the best hip camp spot we’ve been too, but absolutely the best camping adventure our family has ever had. We were two kids (3 and 11), two puppies, and my wife and I. The hosts are so kind and welcoming and we felt so comfortable and taken care of. Ron is a wealth of knowledge on everything you would want to know about the land. We saw a whale right in the cove! We also saw families of sea otters up close, bioluminescence, bald eagles, etc; all naturally (not some crowded tour) in their natural environment. There were tons of wild huckleberries and we made huckleberry jam. Ron had built these amazing cedar plank tent pads right at the water and there were trails and lights.
Ron took us panning for gold as we hiked to stunning waterfalls right behind his cabin. There were these gorgeous pools of water to dip in and we adventured through the forest and the kids loved it.
Ron also took us waterskiing and to the natural hot springs which was fantastic. The hot waterfalls of natural hot water pouring out of the rocks into pools that cascaded to the ocean. There were tide pools at the bottom teeming with bright wildlife. After that we anchored the boat and paddle boarded to a white sandy beach where we entered the old growth forest for a hike. This is truly a surreal place and a unique chance to experience the true beauty of nature. Thank you Ron and family for an unforgettable experience!
