Barrel Cabins on Organic Farm
Was very quiet, and close to Jewel Lake. There is no cell service so keep that in mind. But perfect to get away from it all, enjoy the peacefulness. Not many bugs.

Barrel Cabins on Organic Farm
A must try !!
Such a great and personalized experience Oliver gave to me and my group. The barrels were super cozy and Oliver even provided us with some firewood upon arrival which was a nice touch. We were pleased to get to go sailing on jewel lake and enjoy a 3 course home cooked meal with home brew too ! I can easily say this is my best hipcamp experience to date and will be returning at some point. Oliver made everyone feel like friends on his property and I have never felt more welcomed at a property. His presence and small personalised touches were greatly appreciated.

Barrel Cabins on Organic Farm
A Unique Experience You Wont Forget
Our stay at Jewel Creek Organic Farm in a barrel cabin was nothing short of spectacular, from the night we arrived - our host Oliver had the cabin ready for us and the pizza oven hot and ready where he had prepared calzones with his organic vegetables for us to have for dinner after a long day of driving. Following dinner, he had prepared sourdough bread and plucked a half dozen eggs from his chickens for us to enjoy for breakfast the next morning.
We were situated in cabin 1 which is the larger of the three barrels. All 3 cabins are handcrafted, with a queen loft-style bed, shelving for bags, a pullout step to get on the bed, they also have a window that looks out on the beautiful scenic view of the mountainous forested valley.
Aside from the 3 barrel cabins, there are also 3 spacious yurts fit with a bed in each. Between all of the lodging, there are three composting outhouses, a communal covered kitchen area fitted with all cooking utensils, a large picnic table, a sink with running water and a built-in propane stovetop.
Across from the kitchen was a large communal fire pit, with seating around and a children’s picnic table. Oliver has even built a private outdoor shower. All water sources (sink & shower) are equipped with non-potable reclaimed rainwater so you would need to bring your drinking water.
This area is perfect for large groups, as it is far enough from the private residence, and off the grid with a perfect layout of everything you’d need. Please note there is no cell service on the property as you are on a mountain, but there is wifi at Oliver's house which you can use.
On day 2, Oliver took us up to Jewel Lake, just 5 minutes past the farm to sail with his son on their sailboat. The lake is a lovely alpine lake great for swimming and fishing, there are kayaks, small fishing boats and paddle boats to rent from the lake if you wish to do so. The Jewel Lake Resort was quite cute with a store, where you can also buy snacks, or top up on ice if needed.
Each evening Oliver had prepared food for us, we had an array of meals which included; calzones, paella, and pulled pork sandwiches - you will need to coordinate with him before your arrival on the farm to table meals. We do recommend these!
Oliver became a friend quite soon on, and we cannot wait to come back to Jewel Creek Organic Farms with our friends to enjoy the farm-to-table meals, amazing views and communal areas!
Barrel Cabins on Organic Farm
nice quiet spot close to a beautiful clear Lake. Cabin 2 and 3 have a shared outhouse but no parking for cabin 3. There was no one staying in site 2 so we were able to park there. Host was welcoming upon arrival but there was no shower water on second day despite mentioning it would be filled shortly after we arrived. Cabins are basic but comfortable, would recommend fixing gaps in door to avoid bugs entering. Overall a good experience but would recommend a parking spot for site 3.
