Fir & Feather Mountain Treehouse

2 sites · Lodging125 acres · Golden, BC
We left the city to be closer to nature and like minded folks who help us be our best every day! We found it in Golden, BC. This unforgettable nest high above the forest floor is your opportunity to take flight. Endless trails and spectacular views give you access to nature in a whole new way. Explore on foot, bike or snowshoes(provided), then spend your evening up on the deck around the tree-top propane fire pit. Cook your meals in the outdoor kitchen or on the wood burning stove in the Trapper's Tent. Eat inside or out under the sky, then curl up in the luxurious queen bed to rest up and do it again tomorrow! After two years of building, this is the first year of sharing our labour of love! Be part of our journey by sharing your thoughts with us. Give us listing suggestions and any ideas to improve the Fir and Feather experience. Help us provide some magic. *Check out our first year's reviews on 'that other site', including winter stays. Our 120 acres include trails on the Moonraker Mountain trail system which connect to well over 100 km of biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and ski trails. Canyon Creek and the Columbia River provide views and activities for everyone. The only problem is it can be difficult to pull yourself away from the simple stillness and connection you feel while just sitting at the treehouse or off grid cabin. Isn't life wonderful?

Overview

About

Howse Pass National Historic Site of Canada is an early 19th-century trans-mountain transportation route across the Rocky Mountains, in western Canada. The pass extends through a striking mountain landscape comprising a river, trail, trees, glaciers and lakes. The pass extends from the confluence of the Howse River with the Saskatchewan River in Banff National Park of Canada to the confluence of the Blaeberry River with the Columbia River in British Columbia. The pass, intersected at its eastern end by a modern highway development, extends across the inter-provincial border between British Columbia and Alberta and falls within both provinces. The Alberta side of the pass is situated within Banff National Park of Canada and is administered by Parks Canada. The British Columbia side of the site is provincial crown land administered by the British Columbia Ministry of Forests. Official recognition refers to the geographically definable location circumscribed by selected natural features and watercourses.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Howse Pass National Historic Site is during the summer months, from June to September, when the trails are clear and the weather is most favourable for exploration. Winter can be harsh, with heavy snowfall limiting access and activities, making it less ideal for visitors.

Know before you go

  • Ensure you are prepared for variable weather conditions; the mountain environment can change rapidly.
  • Check the Parks Canada website for any trail closures or safety advisories before your visit.
  • Wear appropriate footwear and clothing for rugged terrain and potential wildlife encounters.
  • Respect the natural habitat by staying on designated paths and practicing 'leave no trace' principles.
  • Cellular reception may be limited, so plan accordingly and inform someone of your itinerary.
