Welcome to TJ Stables, an award-winning, recreational, fully accessible equine facility.  Located on a picturesque 50-acre farm located in Chatham-Kent, Ontario. We are open year-round. Campers can choose from 2 unique stays:Tipi Overnight Adventure - A stay in an authentic Indigenous made TipiLittle Cabin in the Woods - A small cabin that sleeps 4 TJ Stables is home to the Rare And Endangered Anishinabe Ojibway Spirit Horses thought to be the only existing breed of horse developed by Indigenous people in Canada. While at TJ Stables you are encouraged to add this experience as an extra where you can walk amongst these little horses and experience their incredible spiritual power. Listen to the stories passed down by generations of First Nations People about their bond with these little horses.Along with the spirit horse walk, there are many authentic experiences to choose from in the extras section and something for everyone to enjoy!

This woodland cowboy bunkie was so cute and just what I needed for a rustic time away from the daily grind. It is located on a very private side of their beautiful property.

This was such a cute little bunkie and made me jealous that I didn't have one of my own!

Was so honoured to be able to sit in on an awards ceremony for the local First Nations kids that did such a wonderful job, learning, growing and trusting during their summer program!

These bunk beds can fold down into 1 single bed. There are 3 beds in total in the bunkie.

Terry and John were the greatest hosts and cooked me a beautiful wild turkey pie during my Spirit horse encounter!

The horses are all so majestically beautiful here. 

Such a beautiful spot to sip your morning coffee.

Nature and Nurture Farm

Our 130 acre property is currently an organic heirloom vegetable seed farm that is only 12 minutes from Ann Arbor. We've converted this former conventional agricultural land to a beautiful oasis of Certified Organic seed production and homesteading (see www.natureandnurtureseeds.com). The rolling land is 1/2 forest/wetlands and 1/2 fields, making it a biodiverse hot spot for plants, animals, and fungi. Nature abounds at Nature and Nurture Farm so come enjoy our private camping spots.

Learn more about this land:Set up your tent on the spacious property,  enjoy sitting next to the large bonfire pit, and wake up to the beautiful sounds of nature.  There is plenty of sight seeing on the gorgeous wetlands. The Lefurge nature center is just across the street which offers hiking and photo taking opportunities. It is ten minutes from historic depot town Ypsilanti, the Matthai Botanical Gardens, and EMU's football stadium.

Beautiful Lake Shawood Sanctuary

Beautiful camping experience on our little slice of heaven. Lake Shawood is a beautiful, natural spring-fed, non-motorized lake that primarily borders the City of Novi's exquisite Lakeshore Park. Lakeshore Park has everything from playgrounds for very young children and older children, to picnic pavillions and a sandy beach, and miles of hiking, running, and biking trails. 

We fell in love with this property the second we walked behind the old cottage.

I love nature and being outdoors, especially hiking and biking. We are still making improvements on the land with a small garden, which you are welcome to enjoy during your stay. Our big-picture vision is to renovate the old cottage and live in it.

This property is about 1/3 of an acre and has 1 large old oak tree and garden beds with flowers, herbs, and vegetables. (You can help yourself to any of the fruits or vegetables that are ripe)

We are on an old smaller home/cottage-style small residential street. Please keep in mind, that this is a spot for family and friend fun with the awareness of keeping it a sanctuary space for the neighbors as well. 

Enchanting Lakefront Camping Site

Pitch your tent and bring your family and children to our exquisitely beautiful site. The property sits on Shawood Lake, a non-motorized private waterfront site. There’s plenty of room to park your car, pitch a tent, enjoy a campfire, and the beauty of all types of birds (swans, geese, ospreys, and the occasional bald eagle), and animal life. The sunsets in this area are breathtaking.

Take a short 30-second walk and enjoy Pavilion Shore Park, a family-oriented park with a playground, swimming, fishing pier, and waterfront seating of Walled Lake. You’ll also find public restrooms which are open until 10 pm through the summer and a restaurant across the street.

We also have a portable camping toilet with a nice pop-up tent for privacy. 

Lakeshore Park is a 5-minute walk, an 11-acre park with volleyball, swimming, bike, and hiking trails (more than 10 miles of mountain biking and multi-purpose trails), horseshoe pits, BBQs, picnic shelters, and play structures.

Two sisters, Angie & Kimmy and their cousin Amanda pulled together to keep their grandparents land and dream home in the family to continue building the legacy they'd started and to share their space and vision for it with others.With nods to our grandparents, the local history and each of our personalities and interests, our retreats are designed with intention to be a space for quiet relaxation, recovery and growth. The 10 acre property was purchased by their grandparents in the 70's as vacant land where they designed and built their dream home and pond on the front two acres.Learn more about this land:The nearby towns of Armada, Richmond, Memphis & Romeo are rich in history from their roots in our farming communities, historic railroad and before them, our Native American's use of the land. Each town offering a unique and charming Main Street full of locally owned shops and restaurants focused on supporting their local community. While you'll drive through it to access the back 8 acres, the front two acres are currently leased to a long term tenant who isn't to be disturbed.Each year we're improving the property and adding amenities. We currently have 4 individual van or tent camping sites and a larger community site that could accommodate up to 3 small RV's, vans or up to 22' trailers. We're in the process of building a 200 sqft structure to be the "lounge" common area hangout next to the community fire pit. Most vehicles with normal ground clearance should be able to access without issue. Extended heavy rain has created mud in the past at the entrance where 4x4 could be necessary to get in and out after a storm. Drivable roads and camp areas on back 8 acres were bushes cleared about a year ago. While its mostly grass now, there are still short, sticks/roots sticking out in some areas where they haven't been cleared or decomposed yet but still comfortable to drive or walk.
