Pitch your tent in our picturesque Carolinian forest in the heart of Norfolk county! Choose from 9 tent sites and 1 lodging site spread across 10 acres of wooded area on our 49 Acre farm. The terrain is mostly flat but interesting. Campsites are private with good separation from each other. Sites contain a picnic table and fire pit. Campfires are permitted according to our approved burn plan before midnight.
5G/LTE cellphone service is good for Bell, Rogers and Telus networks.
FREE Firewood can be gathered on the forest floor or pay for on-site pre-cut wood. Outhouses are close to campsites....but not too close 💩
Port Rowan is only 12 minutes away by car, most amenities can be purchased only 1 minute away at the local Busy Bee gas station.
We are situated in the middle of a Recreation Hotspot! Our site is within 3 minutes of paddling the Big Creek, 3 to 10 minutes to several A+ hiking trails, 15 minutes to amazing freshwater beaches of Long Point and Turkey Point, and the area is abound with cycling trails, motorcycle routes, geocaching, boat launches (we have room here for your boat!), cider/wine tours, and more! We are the perfect basecamp for everything the Long Point Bay area has to offer
We have some great watering holes nearby like burning kiln winery, hounds of Erie and Charlotteville brewing company.
Birders Paradise!
The ‘Long Point Birding Area’ in Norfolk County is one of Canada’s premier birding locales. With over 400 species of birds observed, Long Point looms large as one of the most exciting places on the continent to observe our rich birdlife.

Spring Arbour bunkie was a magical experience for my husband and me. Although we were alone in the forest on our mid fall trip, we felt such a sense of peace cozied up in the glow of the wood stove. What a thrill to go up for a scenic ride in Erik’s ultra light two seater plane. We really lucked out finding this hipcamp. The instructions were excellent and the hosts very responsive.

The bunkie was great. Very cozy and comfortable. It was fantastic to have access both the forested area, and an open field for watching the sunset/sunrise or stars at night. Highly recommend this location in the fall when the leaves are changing. Close to Backus Woods, where I had a lovely hike as well.

I was given too much information. Bombarded with four different text walls of instructions, rules etc. all saying almost the same thing but slightly differently (or contradicting one another sometimes).
The only personal communication (aside from several pre-written ones) I received from hosts was a message that said "Okay only if you need please ##########." This was in response to my request that we communicate by phone number once I leave my house since I do not have internet on my phone. Honestly, it made me feel like I was bothering them if I had questions while I was there - and I did end up having questions about how to safely operate the air intake on the woodstove but I just decided to keep it to myself.
Value: 3.5/5
This place was awesome, but a touch expensive. After paying an extra $22 for firewood (necessary - it was close to 0C at night) and cleaning fees (I did all the cleaning because I was told to leave it better than I found it. There are not even sheets to change) it was 270 for 2 nights. At that rate, I expect to at least be welcomed by the hosts.

This little cabin is so cute! I especially loved spending time with my family and my dog on the deck taking in the views. We were super comfortable sleeping in the loft and there was lots of room in the lower level for all three adults. Tom was very accommodating with our ever changing plans!

Weekend Trip to Hicks Haven
The Love Shack was super cozy and the hosts, Marilyn and Jim, were extremely welcoming and friendly. The Love Shack had everything we could possibly need, pretty much all we needed to do was pack our clothes and food.
Upon arrival, we met with Marilyn and her fuzzy little friend, Maggie (she’s such a playful cutie). Marilyn shared with us some vegetables from her beautiful garden and also had a fireplace put it in for our stay (which we were extremely grateful for) as the place was getting a bit chillier now. And Jim lit us a lovely fire to enjoy in the night so we can keep warm while enjoying the quiet under the stars. Overall, the entire stay from beginning to end was amazing and we would absolutely be going again!

We had such a wonderful stay! The property is truly special, it accommodates a big group comfortably with plenty of space, and the outdoor kitchen is so well thought out and fully equipped. The cabin is cozy and has electricity, and the showers were spotless and easy to use. We loved the private hiking trail, picnic tables, and direct access to the beach, it made the experience feel peaceful and secluded. The hosts clearly put a lot of care into creating this space, and it shows in every detail. Jon was also responsive and warm. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing, nature-filled getaway.

Marilyn’s campsite is a slice of paradise. The land is stunning, peaceful, open, and full of life. But what makes it truly special is the warmth and kindness of Marilyn herself. She is a generous host, and I felt so welcomed from the moment I arrived.
The fresh zucchini, jam, tomatoes, and cucumber she shared were absolutely delicious… grown with care and love. Every little detail made me feel connected to the earth and to the spirit of the place.

We stayed at Jon’s amazing site with a group of six families, and we all enjoyed every second of our time there. The site is so well set and equipped with everything we needed and more! The private beach is large and beautiful, and the short hike to the beach is itself a funny adventure. We were pleasantly surprised that mosquitoes and flies seem to not even exist in the area. Fantastic weekend all over, we are definitely coming again.

Hicks Haven was everything we hoped for and more. Jim and Marilyn are the kind of hosts who make you feel instantly welcome — warm, generous, and full of local knowledge. Jim kindly stocked our firepit with wood each evening, and Marilyn even shared fresh produce from her garden, which was such a lovely touch.
The trailer itself was impressively well-stocked — cooking utensils, coffee, sugar, and all the essentials were thoughtfully provided, making it easy to settle in and feel at home. We were especially grateful for the air conditioning during a heatwave, and the projector was a total bonus — perfect for cozy movie nights inside when the rain rolled in. One night, with Jim’s help, we even managed to set up the projector by the fire for an unforgettable outdoor movie experience under the stars.
They gave us great recommendations for nearby spots to explore, and the location is ideal — just a short 10-minute drive to the Provincial Park beach, with the park pass included! The off-leash dog area at the beach was a highlight for my little guy, who had the time of his life running free.
If you're looking for a peaceful, well-cared-for spot with thoughtful hosts and all the comforts of home, Hicks Haven is a fantastic choice. We’ll definitely be back!

I don't think I can gather enough amazing words to describe this magical tucked away experience. Turning off the road you are met with a gate and no trespassing signs. Smile & wave to the camera up on the right and know you are safe as you lock the gate behind you. Multiple sites to park rv's will greet you as you drive towards the cabin. Two of which I noted had electric hookups. The absolute darling little cabin greets you as you notice the huge firepit surrounded by bold red Adirondack chairs. They have cups holders that even hold wine glasses! The outdoor kitchen has absolutely everything you could need to prepare delicious meals from a huge BBQ to a plug in hot plate & even a griddle. Wine opener & utensils galore await in the cute wood cabinets. The outdoor HOT shower and FLUSHABLE toilet are treasures in such a setting. There is a boardwalk that boasts AHMAZING views & you can hear the waves! Borrow the path behind the kitchen and you will poke out cliffside with a ladder & wooden planks snaking down to the waters edge. Dogs may need assistance here. WEAR CLOSED SHOES! The beach itself is 100% secluded other than the far away boats you will see. If you go past the cement block you may run into other beach walkers. Keep your eyes peeled for beautiful beachglass, I found tons! If you should feel inclined, bring a trash bag & help keep this serene place clean from the surprises that can wash up on shore. The ONLY less desirable thing was the spiders haha 100% recommend!

Host extremely accommodating to ensure a perfect stay, inquiring about our fur babies host encouraged, instant book for us. Adorable bunkie queen size bed & 2 top sleeping areas. Breeze through windows + sound of the waves a real treat! Plenty of tenting area options throughout the property. Showers with two removable shower heads and hot water! Outhouse plumbing & clean, all equipped w motion lights. Incredible outdoor kitchen area, working fridge & sink! Underneath storage, storage container loaded from electric coil burner - tp, plenty more to offer. Option of ordering from charming town of Port Burwell just minutes drive, famous submarine tour, dog treats at ice cream parlour. Trail to private beach through forest camping, spiders exist. Insects did not bother us but recommend dog friendly bug spray for your fur babies, proceed down small vertical ladder, (helped dogs here) a rope is then provided should you need. walk down wood planks to short scramble and on your own private beach area, warm and shallow! Large fire pit, string lights give beautiful ambiance. Picnic table along bluffs boardwalk, beautiful sunset and stars. Bird watched drinking morning coffee overlooking vast Lake Erie. Will be rebooking, The host cares passionately about nature. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us, making our anniversary wonderful & stress free!! 🙏

We had an amazing day here. The trailer was cozy and cool, which is great with the summer heat. It was also very clean and neat when we arrived. The beach is only a few minutes away and we were allowed to borrow a Parks Pass which meant we could visit for which was great! Both of our hosts were very friendly and pleasant to talk to, and when we arrived Marilyn was there to greet us and show us around the property. Overall it was a great experience and somewhere that we would love to visit again.

What a hidden gem spot! Marilyn was such a generous gracious hostess. The property is well-maintained with beautiful gardens and lots of space to wander. The bed is so comfortable. It's brand new! Coffee and games and a cool projector for you to use!
There are so many beautiful places to go outside and sit and enjoy the beauty. Delicious fresh veggies from the garden too! Would stay again in a heartbeat.
