A peaceful nature space with a large magical pond (the size of an olympic swimming pool) to bask in, plus a 44 acre forest to roam. You will have access to clean water to swim in (no soaps or detergents in the pond please, we also swim in the pond regularly so we might see you in there!), clean water to drink + wash dishes in, lots of safe flat parking for cars and camper vans, lots of safe flat grass for tents, a giant forest, views of a few beautiful horses doing their own thing on our pastures (do not feed them or go within the fenced off horse areas), loads of birds, dragonflies, butterflies and more! We require quiet after 9pm, and before 9am. No excessive substance use please. No substance use if you are going to swim. Private simple camping toilet/outhouse setup with view of nature. Water for washing hands. No shower. We moved here because we thought it was beautiful, and we hope to share that with others. We live here, and enjoy the water and land every day. Looking forward to welcoming you and sharing our space!

Like most folks who’ve been bitten by the water ski bug, I dreamed of having my own lake and when I met my life partner Harald, an elite slalom skier, my search began in earnest. By a combination of good timing and good luck, I was able to make that dream come true and in the spring of 2014 I acquired this land with the hopes of building my dream water ski lake on it. 7 years later, we have a thriving water ski club and are constantly making improvements to the site. We now have decided to add some sites for rent to share this incredible property with others outside the water ski community. Site #1 is a small cabin that sleeps 3 and site #2 is a small houseboat that has been converted to a bunkie. Onsite activities include use of a canoe and paddleboard. Use of a kid's swingset and olympic trampoline. Swimming and fishing. Pets are welcome, campfires are permitted.

The white pine trees you see were planted by my parents over 60 years ago. We also have hiking trails throughout our wooded, rolling hills for you to explore. It is a fantastic place to view wildlife. Our completely off-the-grid little rustic one-room cabin with a screened-in porch, by the wildlife pond, where you will camp, was built by hand by my father. (see photos) Experience our rewilding. Practice your bushcraft. Writers, painters, musicians, and poets have created and composed in our rustic cabin by the pond. All Profits from the campsite go toward maintaining our native wildlife refuge. We are private property and not a public campground. Local Attractions: Our wildlife refuge/organic farm is 18 km from Stratford where you can rent canoes and paddle boats to use on the Avon River. There are several grocery stores there. There is a great swimming quarry in St. Marys which is just 17 km away. There are two grocery stores in St. Marys. Lakeside Resort is 7 km away and is a good place to take small children swimming. There is additional hiking at Wildwood Lake Conservation Area and Harrington Mill Pond Conservation Area. Both just North of us. Canoes can be rented at Wildwood. We are a 5 minute drive away from Happy Hills Resort where you can buy ice. The closest general store, Embro Food Market where you can buy ice and food 7 days a week is in Embro which is 14 km away. Lake Huron which has great beaches is about a 55 minute drive away.

Swim in your private pond, recharge and escape the noise of the city and relax in your own personal paradise! Cabinonthe9 is one of Canada's top short term rental destinations. The space Welcome to Cabinonthe9. The main room measures 13 ' by 10.5' and includes a wood burning stove in the back left corner. In the winter this serves as the main heat source with an electric heater as a backup. The space has a loveseat, coffee table and dining table along with a leather chair. The back room includes the main entrance, kitchenette and bathroom that has a "Airhead" compost toilet, designed for #1's only, a short walk to the main house for private washroom and shower facilities Please note there is ONLY WiFi I in the main house and not the cabin. There is a ladder leading to the loft that might be uncomfortable for some people to use. To make the climb easier, consider bringing your slippers or wearing your shoes if you experience any discomfort while ascending. Guest access Guests will have access to the shared kitchen in the main Victorian House. Please be mindful of your cook time to allow other guests equal opportunity at kitchen use during meal times. Please clean up after yourself, including dishes, as a courtesy to other guests. You will find a coffee maker, tea kettle and Nespresso machine for your warm beverages. We also supply the coffee/tea/sweetener while guests supply their own milk and cream at the cabin. If more food storage is needed, guests are free to use the large fridge/freezer in the main kitchen as well as refill water, restock dishes/cutlery etc., and fill the dishwasher. The main house is only 2 minutes from the cabin and guests have access to the house along with the private washroom facilities and a fully equipped gym. Other things to note Important: Cabin bedding will be provided for you to make your bed. Please note that the cabin door can only be locked from the inside once you are in the cabin, not the outside.
