The river offers a few different swimholes easily within walking or paddling range, as well as some decent fishing and wildlife sightings. As well as using the canoe provided, campers are also welcome to hike the marked and groomed waterfront hiking trails throughout the 56 acre property, and just down the road is Mt.Moriah, a Buddhist Center, and numerous backcountry trails, reserves, and lakes. ATV's are permitted on the road, (gateway to trails to Lingham, Deer Rock, Caniff, and Skootamatta Lakes) and friendly dogs are welcome off leash. This is a unique gelogical landscape, situated between Mt. Moriah, the Elzevir pluton complex and the Black River in an ultramafic zone, with coloured quartz veins and pillowed granite outcroppings. Mixed forest with varied species of deciduous and conifer trees - due to aerial seeding after a forest fire over 80 years ago, leaving charred stumps that can still be found from natural char preservation. Home to pileated woodpeckers, hawks, eagles and kingfishers, otters, fishers, salamanders, brown river trout and everything in between, either from the vantage of a hammock or on a hike in the forest this natural site won't disappoint.

Willow Lane Farm is a Heritage Breed Poultry farm that runs a small rescue/sanctuary for livestock. The Main farm is situated on 60 acres which backs onto crown land. There's open fields, forest, wetlands and paddocks full of all sorts of animals. Towards the back, there's several small ponds and a river that runs through the property. Located in the north east corner of Sudbury, in the town of Hanmer, Ontario. Sudbury is known as the Blueberry Capitol. The small mining town has grown into a good sized city which is situated in a crater. It's prime location is a haven for geologists, blueberry pickers, snowmobilers, and fishermen. With over 50 lakes close by, and lots of ATV/sled trails, it's a great recreational place with lots to do or sit back and enjoy the peaceful scenery. Animals are welcomed. Welcome to Backwater Paradise in Northern Ontario. We are 15 minutes north off Trans Canada Highway, Blind River. 5-6 hours northwest of Toronto and 9 hours east of Thunder Bay, between Sault Saint Marie and Sudbury. Looking for a wilderness get away or just driving through? We can accommodate. Backwater Paradise has possibilities for several camping styles. whether you bring your own RV, easy tenting or choose to go deep and experience raw wilderness/survival in our Left Field. There is a water tower providing utility water for washing or extinguishing camp fires. We have a quiet atmosphere for new and savvy nature lovers. s. There are no lights on this lake which makes it perfect for star gazing. The main entrance is very well marked and leads to the lake. This is where we host RV sites and tent sites. All nature watchers and sky gazers will enjoy the spaces we have here. Moose, bald eagles. wolves, otters, beavers, bears, owls and several migratory birds are common visitors. You will get to hear whippoorwills, several species of frogs, crickets, and sometimes wolves/coyotes at night. It is very important that pets be kept on a leash. In the lake there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area and firepit and picnic tables for everyone to access and enjoy the water and the shoreline. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. There are several firepit rings to allow campers to have their own camp fire and we sell hardwood. We also have a paddle boat rental. There is 30 acres of mixed forest, lake and marsh, and now we are able to be open year round. You will notice that some of the photos have brown for grass. Those are earlier pictures of when we first opened. All of our expanded areas are like that at first, and things have changed a lot over the last 4 years and, will continue to have "unkempt" areas as we continue to expand. Our newest listings this year are called Almost Paradise (shower unit) and more recently Rootbound Ranch (camping for those travelling with livestock or horses.) This also available for those that like to stay at a farm. If Backwater Paradise is full, you can enjoy the same attributes just across the road at Almost Paradise. Another site we have is Left Field. Its raw bush and field space in the center. This is where the marsh is. We are also working on a new trail between Backwater Paradise and Left Field and encourage our campers to enjoy the views of both of these spaces. We recommend that you park on the upper portion of this driveway/road and walk or use an ATV to travel on the trail to the lake. As mentioned, there is about a 40 ft incline just as you approach the clearing down by the lake . Please wear running/walking shoes and descend slowly down either of the 2 trails provided. The trail "Easy Street" is definitely an easier descent and climb. Learn more about this land: Situated just off the main road, The Ridge Retreat offers you the privacy and beauty of 6 unspoiled acres. Follow the gravel walkway/road down (5 min walk) to your amazing private dock situated on Howes Lake, Verona Ontario. Deep, clean water for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, etc.  There are 2 firepits should you decide to have a campfire - one at the road site (RV and trailer) and one at the waters edge.  This property provides privacy and solitude for nature lovers. The designated RV parking spot is up near the main road along with a very nice outhouse but if you decide to tent camp, there are a few choices that would bring you closer to the water's edge.  An additional outhouse is located at the top of the incline to the lake.  The gravel/asphalt trail down by the lake is the steeper of the 2 trails. Choose the "Easy Street" trail off to your right after you pass the stop sign indicating that no vehicles should drive beyond. This trail is a bit longer but a much more gradual incline. Grocery shopping, nature trails, etc are just a few minutes away. The scenic town of Westport is a 30 min drive away with amazing shops and a local winery.

We live in a beautiful area nestled in the woods just seconds away from amenities, half a kilometer off Highway 17. It is very private here. We are homesteaders and love our land. We grow our own food, our own herbs and our own chickens. If you're here during the right time, you might see a few chicks running around . In our town we have a small grocery store, a convenience store with gas and we have an LCBO You can park in the driveway with you RV or on the lawn with your tent. You will have access to electricity and water. You can also use the bathroom and shower. You must provide your own extension cord and water hose I do have some here if need be but I am not sure they would be long enough. There is a beautiful Lake just down the street. Another half a kilometer away for you to go. Kayaking, swimming or just sightseeing. There is also a spot for you to climb the mountain. The marina here in town is absolutely beautiful and they have a lookout for you to climb. I believe it's 132 steps. This is the highlight of our little town.

Once through the gate it’s only a 1-minute drive to where you will park. This road may be a bit muddy! If you are looking for a Winter Bunkie getaway, we would be happy to host you; please note the following: - If there has been a lot of snow the private road from the street to the Bunkie is not plowed. Depending on the type of vehicle you are driving, you may have to park at the gate entrance and walk in (4-5min walk) to get to the Bunkie. - There is a wood fireplace in the Bunkie for sleeping, it will keep you very toasty. - There is lots of free wood available for an outside fire. We have a small grill available for cooking, bring your own coal. - Bring your own extra blankets and sleeping bags. - A bunkie with running water inside and outside and comes along with a hydro. - NOTE: There are 2 other bunkies in the area and camping spots in the summer; you will have lots of privacy but be aware you may not be alone across the full 40 acres! DETAILS: Sleeping area on the main level with a king-size bed and a large window. The listing comes with an option of a loft. The loft is accessible by ladder comfortably sleeps 2. It is a big chunk of land but you can't really get 'lost' on it for any significant period of time. We are bounded by roads so eventually you will find your way. But, if you aren't experienced in the woods you may want to keep your wandering short, to start, as you get familiar with the land. Dog friendly!! We are 15 minutes north off Trans Canada Highway, Blind River. 5-6 hours northwest of Toronto and 9 hours east of Thunder Bay, between Sault Saint Marie and Sudbury. Looking for a wilderness get away or just driving through? We can accommodate. Backwater Paradise has possibilities for several camping styles. whether you bring your own RV, easy tenting or choose to go deep and experience raw wilderness/survival in our Left Field. There is a water tower providing utility water for washing or extinguishing camp fires. We have a quiet atmosphere for new and savvy nature lovers. s. There are no lights on this lake which makes it perfect for star gazing. The main entrance is very well marked and leads to the lake. This is where we host RV sites and tent sites. All nature watchers and sky gazers will enjoy the spaces we have here. Moose, bald eagles. wolves, otters, beavers, bears, owls and several migratory birds are common visitors. You will get to hear whippoorwills, several species of frogs, crickets, and sometimes wolves/coyotes at night. It is very important that pets be kept on a leash. In the lake there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area and firepit and picnic tables for everyone to access and enjoy the water and the shoreline. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. There are several firepit rings to allow campers to have their own camp fire and we sell hardwood. We also have a paddle boat rental. There is 30 acres of mixed forest, lake and marsh, and now we are able to be open year round. You will notice that some of the photos have brown for grass. Those are earlier pictures of when we first opened. All of our expanded areas are like that at first, and things have changed a lot over the last 4 years and, will continue to have "unkempt" areas as we continue to expand. Our newest listings this year are called Almost Paradise (shower unit) and more recently Rootbound Ranch (camping for those travelling with livestock or horses.) This also available for those that like to stay at a farm. If Backwater Paradise is full, you can enjoy the same attributes just across the road at Almost Paradise. Another site we have is Left Field. Its raw bush and field space in the center. This is where the marsh is. We are also working on a new trail between Backwater Paradise and Left Field and encourage our campers to enjoy the views of both of these spaces. The trail "Easy Street" is definitely an easier descent and climb. Learn more about this land: Situated just off the main road, The Ridge Retreat offers you the privacy and beauty of 6 unspoiled acres. Follow the gravel walkway/road down (5 min walk) to your amazing private dock situated on Howes Lake, Verona Ontario. Deep, clean water for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, etc.  There are 2 firepits should you decide to have a campfire - one at the road site (RV and trailer) and one at the waters edge.  This property provides privacy and solitude for nature lovers. The designated RV parking spot is up near the main road along with a very nice outhouse but if you decide to tent camp, there are a few choices that would bring you closer to the water's edge.  An additional outhouse is located at the top of the incline to the lake.  The gravel/asphalt trail down by the lake is the steeper of the 2 trails. Choose the "Easy Street" trail off to your right after you pass the stop sign indicating that no vehicles should drive beyond. This trail is a bit longer but a much more gradual incline. Grocery shopping, nature trails, etc are just a few minutes away. The scenic town of Westport is a 30 min drive away with amazing shops and a local winery.

We live in a beautiful area nestled in the woods just seconds away from amenities, half a kilometer off Highway 17. It is very private here. We are homesteaders and love our land. We grow our own food, our own herbs and our own chickens. If you're here during the right time, you might see a few chicks running around . In our town we have a small grocery store, a convenience store with gas and we have an LCBO You can park in the driveway with you RV or on the lawn with your tent. You will have access to electricity and water. You can also use the bathroom and shower. You must provide your own extension cord and water hose I do have some here if need be but I am not sure they would be long enough. There is a beautiful Lake just down the street. Another half a kilometer away for you to go. Kayaking, swimming or just sightseeing. There is also a spot for you to climb the mountain. The marina here in town is absolutely beautiful and they have a lookout for you to climb. I believe it's 132 steps. This is the highlight of our little town.

Dog friendly! The space Come to the Hedgehog to completely relax and disconnect (seriously, you will because there is no cell service!). You can drive up to the Bunkie all year round unless your vehicle has especially low clearance. The road/path out to the bunkie started as a well-made tractor path that has held up well over the years but has some rocks and bumps. Once through the gate it’s only a 1-minute drive to where you will park. This road may be a bit muddy! If you are looking for a Winter Bunkie getaway, we would be happy to host you; please note the following: - If there has been a lot of snow the private road from the street to the Bunkie is not plowed. Depending on the type of vehicle you are driving, you may have to park at the gate entrance and walk in (4-5min walk) to get to the Bunkie. - There is a wood fireplace in the Bunkie for sleeping, it will keep you very toasty. - There is lots of free wood available for an outside fire. We have a small grill available for cooking, bring your own coal. - Bring your own extra blankets and sleeping bags. - A bunkie with running water inside and outside and comes along with a hydro. - NOTE: There are 2 other bunkies in the area and camping spots in the summer; you will have lots of privacy but be aware you may not be alone across the full 40 acres! DETAILS: Sleeping area on the main level with a king-size bed and a large window. The listing comes with an option of a loft. The loft is accessible by ladder comfortably sleeps 2. Our well-appointed bathroom features a refreshing shower with both warm and cold water, ensuring you feel rejuvenated after a day of adventure. With running water readily available, you'll have everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Plus, our convenient tap located at the side of the washroom is easily accessible for all guests. The bunkie has solar lighting for the evenings. If you don’t want to find your own firewood in the forest you can pick it up from locals on your way in for $5/bundle (see stands at the end of driveways). It is a big chunk of land but you can't really get 'lost' on it for any significant period of time. We are bounded by roads so eventually you will find your way. But, if you aren't experienced in the woods you may want to keep your wandering short, to start, as you get familiar with the land. Dog friendly!! We provide: • Bed mattress, pillows and blankets • TV (plug in your phone to watch downloads) • Keurig Coffee Maker • Toilet Paper • BBQ Grill • BBQ Utensils • First Aid kit What to bring: • Drinking water • Keurig Coffee Pods • Coal (for grilling) • Extra blankets • Dishes, cups, utensils • Food + anything required to prepare/eat your meals • Ice • Bug spray, sunscreen, etc • Garbage bags Guest access • You will have access to the entire bunkie and fire pit location with the surrounding outdoor space and parking. You are free to enjoy the trails but ask that you refrain from entering the farm fields or barns nearby. • There is approximately 40 acres of forest. There are a couple other bunkies around but they are spread apart and you will have total have privacy! • 15 minutes from Port Dover or Simcoe – it’s the perfect retreat for a quick getaway. Other things to note: THERE IS ELECTRICITY THERE IS RUNNING WATER INSIDE AND OUTSIDE AND A HYDRO. THERE IS A SHARED WASHROOM AND SHOWER WITH WARM AND COLD WATER THERE IS TAP FOR EVERYONE TO USE THERE IS NO DRINKING WATER THERE IS NO WIFI ACCESS VERY LIMITED/NO CELL SERVICE IMPORTANT: We are committed to protecting our properties and keeping up-to-date with short-term rental regulations, which is why you will be asked to complete our independent verification.
