This is one of the original properties for the area. Owned by one lovely family since the 1700's until your current (very lucky) host. The house was the post office from 1861 to 1961. One of the rooms was the hospice for the area... SPOOOOOKY!!!
There is a culvert from the 1700's on the property from where the province moved the highway sometime before the 40's. Neat!
Reggie took over ownership in 2020 and is keeping things as original as possible, but adding his touch, like his battle axe travel trailer, Franny, which makes her home in the driveway. She's worth a visit!
- TENT ADVANCED LEVEL LAKESIDE is by far the most beautiful; however, it is a small area, located on the edge of the property, and I can't be responsible for the neighbours to a certain extent.
Fort Nova is your home for as long as you choose. Let's get campy!
**KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE MAY BE OTHERS STAYING THERE** But there are multiple areas to choose from, including: the lawn, living amongst the pines, a forest clearing, or even lakeside (it's rough back there). You can have complete privacy and feel free to reach out to me at the house if you need anything.
For those with RV's, there is an exterior outlet and a water spigot, but please remember, others might be staying there so we need to play nice and share!
On the property, there is:
- A decent-sized lake (I wish I had a canoe... :( )
- 1700's abandoned bridge
- Lots of foraging (Won't be held liable if ya eat something silly!)
- Rail Trail (runs through the property)

My hosts upgraded my pitch due to unforseen issues prior to arrival and I can heartily recommend a bell tent. There's so many little extras that, for anyone mes used to camping, will make this a joyous place to stay. Would I come back? You betcha.

Weekend Trip to Ingomar Oceanfront Camping
The site was lovely, right next to the sea with a beautiful view. The tent has everything you need, to cook, a bbq outside and heat plate inside, the gaz is included and there's solar powered lamp in the tent above on the table to cook inside. We just used our own French press to make coffee in the morning but that's about it !
The bed is lovely, there is an extra mattress for a third person. The site very quiet and we slept like babies.
We had a very good night !

We arrived at sunset to Reginald’s farmhouse. Yard was mainly flat and easy to navigate. Sunset was beautiful, and we didn’t know when we booked that it was so close to the seaside.
We ate an apple from the tree which was delicious. Farmhouse is a little museum onto itself and smells slightly of damp. Bathroom has all necessities and shower was excellent.

For me, Fort Nova was heaven and strategically located. The peaceful setting was great. That peace was interrupted at times as I hiked down the trail to the huge beaver pond each morning with coffee in hand. The interruption was, many mornings, from either an eagle or an osprey.
Located an hour from Yarmouth and an hour from Liverpool, the farm was perfectly located to explore the entire southern part of the province. And, next door was a restaurant with a view of Jordan Bay.

I loved my time at the bell tent. The view from the bed facing the screen door is beautiful and listening to the sound of the waves on the shore lulls you to sleep.
There are enough amenities to be comfortable but it is rustic enough that you still have the simplicity of camping. A perfect combination for someone my age.
The host is friendly and very accommodating. Many lovely beaches and sites to see within close driving distance. I would love to go back sometime!

Fort Nova, for me, was heaven. Perfectly situated to explore the southeast corner of Nova Scotia. Yarmouth was only hour to the east and Liverpool an hour to the north. Charming Lockport, with it expansive beach, was fifteen minutes away. The solitude and the grounds are fantastic. My morning walk along the trail, through the pines, to the expansive beaver pond was magical. A place that allows one to experience quiet and solitude...except for the screech of the bald eagle.

This Hipcamp was exactly what we needed and expected. A nice quiet stop for the night after arriving on the CAT ferry to explore NS for a few weeks. Make sure you checkout the old cemetery down the street for great history and great views! Sue and family were great hosts. Thanks.

If you want a totally awesome camping experience on your road trip around Nova Scotia then you need to stop here for the night. The bell tent is tucked away in the forest and has everything you need to have a great night. There’s a little stove to cook dinner on, a nice fire pit (when there is no fire ban on), and a beautiful view of the ocean, it’s a very windy area but adds to the seaside camping experience. Totally affordable and punches way above its price, very friendly owner who directed us to the camp upon arrival. It would be a mistake to miss this place on your way through.

One of the nicest spots I’ve been to in a long time. Great location, cozy lights, and a beautiful sunset — such a peaceful place. We were able to walk over to a lobster marina, which was really cool. Definitely recommend it.

Site 2 is next to the local public boat launch which allowed for easy access to walk along the rocky and sandy shore. This site is easily accessible with a large circular tent. This site is available to have fully stocked for necessary amenities (kitchen) which we took full advantage of a s buying and lugging around all that camping gear can be pricy and tiresome. Other than exploring along the water front there is a hammock! That alone is a wonderful feature. The bed is firm and the bedding clean with extra bedding if needed. The site is partially shaded which helps keep the site comfortable. The surrounding areas are quiet and being near the water allowed for a beautiful view
