The Owl’s Nest

In the middle of a 145 acre, sustainably managed wood lot is the Owl’s Nest. The name “The Owl’s Nest” was chosen because two owl species nest regularly in the wood lot. Great Horned Owls and Barred Owls make this quiet corner of the world their home. Currently (2024) we have the barred owls raising their young. Nest sites are easily observable without disturbing the birds. The Cabin was built about 15 years ago and sleeps 3 people comfortably. An Outhouse and a small wood shed are close by. It is also surrounded by a mixed forest of varying age and many groomed trail dissect the woodlot. The cabin is an all season building. Wildlife is abundant. Moose, White tail Deer, Black Bears, Bob Cats, Lynx, Porcupines, Beavers and a great varieties of songbirds and raptors are inhabitants of our woodlot. From summer to winter our cabin is cozy, warm, and comfortable. In Spring you will find Lady Slippers, Bunch Berries, Painted Trillium among many other blooming plants to be discovered. Summer yields more blooming plants and Blue Berries, Black berries among others that are ready to be picked and enjoyed. Fall is our favourite season as the explosion of colours makes it seem like you are walking through a waking dream. In Winter, discover quiet beauty as you snowshoe or cross country ski through undisturbed hallways of snow covered evergreens. The cabin has a wood stove which keeps it cozy and warm as you cook over a traditional wood stove. Imagine brewing hot cocoa as you sit at the handmade table gazing out over the silently falling snow. The cabin can not be reached by car but transportation to the site is provided. It can be reached by foot as well and the walk will take about 30 minutes along well groomed trailed and roads. Either way promises fun and we will ensure that your belongings will be delivered to the cabin for you.
