Located within the borders of the only protected UNESCO World Heritage Site within Manitoba, our unique area is known for deep boreal forests and untouched wilderness. The Ojibwe name for this area is Pimachiowin Aki (pim MATCH - o win - a KEH) which means "Land that gives life" and "Living the good life on the Land". It is the perfect name for this place; a place where nature and culture come together and are inseparable. Built in 2013, our lovely getaway has an open-concept living/dining/kitchen area, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, wraparound deck, sunroom, and gorgeous views of the water. Miles from civilization, with just one or two locals to keep you from feeling too isolated, Loon Straits is a hidden gem located on the east shores of Lake Winnipeg, under 3 hours drive north of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The drive up to our cottage is so beautiful that you won’t even mind the distance! Our wraparound deck is the ultimate place to bbq, sip a glass of wine or after-dinner cocktail, watch the sunrise with coffee in hand, observe the wildlife (pelicans, ducks, eagles, beaver, muskrats, foxes, the odd moose or bear- the list goes on!) nap in the hammock, or keep an eye on the kids as they cannonball into the water. The lawn is great for playing lawn sports (bocci ball anyone?), tanning, campfires, or yoga. Our private dock and boat launch are steps from the front door so you can launch your canoe or fishing boat in no time. WATERFRONT: granite rock, accessible for swimming and fishing. Gorgeous untouched sandy beaches within walking distance. Forest & Herb Farm by the Beach

1 site · Lodging80 acres · Scanterbury, MB
A stone’s throw from the beaches of southeastern Lake Winnipeg, Cityfolk Farm is home to 80 acres of wide open fields, a medicinal herb farm, and forests of poplar, pine, alder, and willow for you to explore. THINGS TO DO... Say hello to the chickens roaming the land, enjoy a relaxing walk through our forest labyrinth, tour the medicinal herb farm (@awakenherbs), meet our Great Pyrenees, Willow the gentle giant, swim at a beach with some of the finest sands in the world (a 15 minutes' drive away), and relax in a hammock, gently swayed by the breeze. THE CAMPER... Stepping into this vintage RV is like stepping back in time to the 1970s. The camper sleeps 4-6 (2 adults and 4 kids is workable), with a master bed area, a convertible kitchen booth, and a bunk above the driver's area. Equipped with bedding, towels, cloth napkins, board games, and more, we have tried to anticipate your needs. The kitchen is stocked with some basic ingredients such as spices, s&p, oats, tea herbs, oils, and honey and in the cupboards you'll find dishes and utensils. The stove in the RV is not in use, so you can enjoy the BBQ just outside the door, or use the communal campground kitchen. There is a composting toilet in the camper bathroom, and you'll also have access to the campground composting toilet outhouse and outdoor shower. There is no running water in the camper - there is a water dispenser in both the kitchen and bathroom for drinking and hand-washing. WHERE WE ARE... A stone’s throw from the beaches on the southeastern shores of Lake Winnipeg, 45 minutes north of Winnipeg, just 10 minutes to Gull Lake, 15 to Patricia Beach & the Brokenhead Wetland Interpretive Trail, and 20 minutes to Grand Beach, which features sands ranked in the top 10 worldwide. WHO WE ARE... Our family of six moved to the country from Winnipeg (hence the name Cityfolk Farm). We learn and work from home, run a re-skilling festival (@takerootfest), and a medicinal herb farm (@awakenherbs). Fostering a connection with nature and cultivating community is at the heart of all we do. WHOSE LAND... The land now stewarded by our family (Cityfolk Farm) is part of Treaty 1 territory and the ancestral land of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Metis Nation. We acknowledge that we are on stolen land, and we continue to learn about both the harm that was done and the beautiful history and traditions of tending land & people of the Indigenous nations who suffered and continue to be negatively impacted by colonialism. We are working to be conscious of and active in reconciliation and welcome relationship and collaboration with Indigenous communities. We encourage all who are connected to the farm, festival, farm stays and other events here to dig into this learning as well, and come to the land in thoughtfulness and gratitude.

Glamping in Manitoba guide

Overview

Whether you're spotting beluga whales and polar bears in Wapusk National Park, hiking and paddling around Lake Country, or venturing into the Arctic north on a snowmobile, Manitoba was made for outdoor adventures. If you don't fancy pitching a tent in the backcountry or tackling icy roads in your RV, a Manitoba glamping experience is the perfect way to get outdoors without giving up all your home comforts. Glamping is available in some spectacular locations, too. Rent a cabin by the beach in Lake Winnipeg, check into a wilderness yurt near Churchill, or cozy up in a tiny house in the woods. Many of Manitoba's 92 provincial parks also have furnished yurts or family vacation cabins available. At Riding Mountain National Park, you can rent a quirky MicrOcube with views of the forest or an oTENTik, an A-frame-style cabin equipped with comfy beds, electric heaters, and basic furniture.
