Vernon is home to countless private, well-maintained RV parks and campsites—ideal basecamps for year-round adventure. Summer days are warm (average July highs of 29.7°C), perfect for paddling, swimming, or relaxing on the beach at one of three lakes surrounding Vernon. Otherwise, hike or bike along the pristine Okanagan Rail Trail, or trek the subalpine terrain of Silver Star Provincial Park. In winter, campers can expect colder temperatures (average January lows of -6.7°C) and popular winter activities like downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing on Silver Star Mountain. Nearby frozen waterfalls, notably BX Creek Trail waterfalls and Cosens Bay Waterfall, are even more beautiful in winter than when flowing in summer.
