Come camp on a 40-acre parcel backing onto crown land mountains and wake up in front of 10 acres of vineyard and a view of Okanagan Lake! There is a small cabin and two camp sites to choose from. Site 1 is best suited for tents and small campervans, less than 18' or so (though people with small trailers like tear drop campers have been fine). Site 2 has a much larger flat area that can hold RVs up to 30'. Cabin available for those that want to sleep in a cozy bed and have a warm fire :) Outhouse on the property, which is just a pit toilet. It is a working farm so will likely have various equipment around at times as well as workers at certain times of the year. You’ll likely meet our very friendly and very energetic Bernedoodle, Bernie. If you prefer to keep him out of your campsite just let us know and we can keep him closer. Otherwise, he thinks he has the run of the place! Please check to see if campfires are allowed (live in a high-risk fire zone) and firewood is available with an extra charge. If you need anything to better enjoy your stay, just let us know! Our property is located in Peachland, BC. Positioned midway between Kelowna and Pentiction, it is the perfect location to draw from both population centres and is well-positioned to act as a hub for popular wine and other agri-tourism activities. A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Pillow covers) - Extra pillows (we provide 2 per cabin. There is a full washroom with tub/shower, toilet and wifi access in our old farmhouse which is complimentary during your stay. Should you find that your desired dates are already booked, please reach out to us as we may have a back up spot available. Please keep in mind we are an organic farm homestead that offers an agritourism experience. Once you reach Boston Bar you will Turn left at the Esso and cross 2 sets of railroad tracks bringing you into Northbend, from Northbend there is about 6km of paved road after that there is 6km of gravel road until you reach our campground. Past our campground is the beautiful Nahatlatch provincial Park which contains Francis lake, Hanna Lake and Nahatlatch Lake. The lakes offer an abundance of activities such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and paddle boarding. The first lake is about a 15-20 min drive again on gravel road. 2 wheel drive accessible until 21km on the forest service Road after 21km you will need a 4x4, if you plan to travel to Grizzly falls or the 3rd Lake. A wood burning BBQ is available for use and a huge upright smoker for your fish haul (bring your own propane cylinder). BATHROOMS: There are no bathrooms in the cabin. Flush toilets and hot showers are available in the wash house steps away in the summer and in the lodge in the other months. ELECTRICITY: The cabins have no electricity. Please bring your own lanterns and flashlights. WATER FUN: The cabin is RIGHT ON THE WATER and in the summer we have dock for jumping off of or launching a boat. We have kayaks, floaties and paddle boards available on a first come first served basis. Boat rental with 6.5 HP motor also available for $99 a day. Ice fishing is excellent in the winter. WE PROVIDE: dishes, cups, mugs, cutlery, cooking pots and some utensils. YOU NEED TO BRING: whatever you need for sleeping (bags or blankets and sheets, pillows), food, drinking water, and personal items such as towels and toiletries. Firewood and water (from the lake) for washing is provided. There is no fridge so you will need to bring a cooler with ice for your perishables. Town is an hour away. CHECK-OUT: Please leave the cabin clean and tidy and pack out all your garbage and left-over food. ACCESS: We are located 50 km down a logging road and we advise access only by 4-wheel drive vehicles although many cars have made it in the summer. In the winter, access is an ice road. Drivable but slippery. We request that you call/email when you hit the gravel road 50 km away so we know when to expect you. A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Past our campground is the beautiful Nahatlatch provincial Park which contains Francis lake, Hanna Lake and Nahatlatch Lake. The lakes offer an abundance of activities such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and paddle boarding. The first lake is about a 15-20 min drive again on gravel road. 2 wheel drive accessible until 21km on the forest service Road after 21km you will need a 4x4, if you plan to travel to Grizzly falls or the 3rd Lake. Your dogs or other small pets are permitted in the camping areas only as our herd is terrified of dogs. There is another large area (about 5 acres) where well-behaved dogs can run off leash. We have one RV site with septic, water and 50 Amp power and can fit a 40 foot unit and 2 totally private tent sites. There is a full washroom with tub/shower, toilet and wifi access in our old farmhouse which is complimentary during your stay. Should you find that your desired dates are already booked, please reach out to us as we may have a back up spot available. Please keep in mind we are an organic farm homestead that offers an agritourism experience. We are not a manicured campground :) Your camping fees go directly to support our aging farm animals and horses.

Once you reach Boston Bar you will Turn left at the Esso and cross 2 sets of railroad tracks bringing you into Northbend, from Northbend there is about 6km of paved road after that there is 6km of gravel road until you reach our campground. Past our campground is the beautiful Nahatlatch provincial Park which contains Francis lake, Hanna Lake and Nahatlatch Lake. The lakes offer an abundance of activities such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and paddle boarding. The first lake is about a 15-20 min drive again on gravel road. 2 wheel drive accessible until 21km on the forest service Road after 21km you will need a 4x4, if you plan to travel to Grizzly falls or the 3rd Lake. This is an all-season property: swimming, boating, hiking and quadding in the SUMMER, hunting in the FALL, and ice fishing, snowmobiling (100s of km of trail right from your door) in the WINTER. All year long fish for natural rainbow trout and Kokanee. This is a rustic 100% off-grid experience! There is no electricity in the cabins and cold running water in the summer. SLEEPING: The cabin has two bedrooms separated by curtains from the living space and features: One queenTwo single bunksOne double futon HEATING/COOKING:There is a wood stove for heat and cooking and wood is supplied and cold running water in the summer months. A wood burning BBQ is available for use and a huge upright smoker for your fish haul (bring your own propane cylinder). BATHROOMS: There are no bathrooms in the cabin. Flush toilets and hot showers are available in the wash house steps away in the summer and in the lodge in the other months. ELECTRICITY: The cabins have no electricity. Please bring your own lanterns and flashlights. WATER FUN: The cabin is RIGHT ON THE WATER and in the summer we have dock for jumping off of or launching a boat. We have kayaks, floaties and paddle boards available on a first come first served basis. Boat rental with 6.5 HP motor also available for $99 a day. Ice fishing is excellent in the winter. WE PROVIDE: dishes, cups, mugs, cutlery, cooking pots and some utensils. YOU NEED TO BRING: whatever you need for sleeping (bags or blankets and sheets, pillows), food, drinking water, and personal items such as towels and toiletries. Firewood and water (from the lake) for washing is provided. There is no fridge so you will need to bring a cooler with ice for your perishables. Town is an hour away. CHECK-OUT: Please leave the cabin clean and tidy and pack out all your garbage and left-over food. ACCESS: We are located 50 km down a logging road and we advise access only by 4-wheel drive vehicles although many cars have made it in the summer. In the winter, access is an ice road. Drivable but slippery. We request that you call/email when you hit the gravel road 50 km away so we know when to expect you. You have access to the lodge property, lake, dock, trails, grass area and kayaks/floaties/paddle boards when available. Pets welcome with a $35 per pet per stay fee.

Absolutely phenomenal experience. Claire provided clear, thoughtful, and detailed instructions and information every step of the way, from our questions prior to booking, to the instruction booklets on site that ensured a stress free stay. The property itself was very easy to find and navigate, and the treehouse was absolutely magical. You can feel the love and care that the hosts have put into the property in every detail, and we felt as though they covered every aspect of comfort we could possibly ask for, providing plenty of wood, blankets, and simple, but much appriciated amentities. The treehouse is also within comfortable walking distance from the parking area but is still private, which allows for the most breathtaking and scerene viewing of the mountains and birds in the area. I can't say that I have ever stayed somewhere that has compared to this, and would easily choose this experience over any luxury hotel, even considering our snowy morning. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night, and would definitely recommend booking two or more nights so you can take advantage of the hiking trails and appreciate it too it's full extent!!

There was a dream......come visit to learn more!! Current update: The site is quiet and private and you likely won't see another human unless you go wandering.  The hiking on our 7 acres is brilliant fun, with trails all over - riverside and beyond with excellent trails 5 minutes to 40 or more away -Wander all morning and shoot longbow all afternoon on the target range.  A day well spent!!  There are so many options for outdoor fun here.  Canoeing, hiking, swimming, fishing, and archery totally do-able if these are up your alley.  My chef skills are at the disposal of guests as usual, upon request.  With 12 years of industry experience as a 'back house line cook and chef de partie' I can provide an exceptional meal anytime you need to refuel.  It's peaceful and 'laid back' beyond measure here in Summer - and there's always a cool dip in the river if guests feel like cooling off.  Grayson (your host) has traveled the world many times over, in many countries, and is also a 4rth generation local in the Kaslo/Kootenay area - an Aussie Canadian and something of a paradox!!  So conversation is never boring around here - especially when the mead comes out (made in house and seasonally available).  SKOL!!! It's a 'laid back farm' because despite working the land every day, we try not to push too hard and take it easy enough to enjoy the place. There's prime wildlife viewing by the river and in 'Deerhaven' the forested area down there. The focus is on nature here, so please no quads or dirtbikes ripping around - the "Duncan Lake highway" is just up the road for that sort of thing!! Mosquitoes can be bad at certain peak dates (which change yearly according to conditions) The 'farm' aspect and focus is all on gardens, orchards, and landscaping, no livestock/animals except Mr.Finnegan the Aussie red heeler^^   Things keep changing, and bees are a long-term goal once the orchard is more developed. There is wildcrafting available with a variety of native flora and a free tour to describe what's in season if you'd like to pick your own.  The river level is controlled by the Duncan Dam, and at a high level, there's a private diving board and deck space riverside which is also an amazing place to tan, do yoga, or just relax. At low water the fishing is good and there are good size bull trout in there!! There are trails through forested areas on the property and a new outhouse between the mill shed and river. The riverside area is a wildlife corridor so be prepared to see deer, bears, eagles, osprey, wild turkeys, kingfishers, cedar waxwings, mountain bluebirds, the odd rare coyote/cougar, and possibly elk among others!! Generally, it's pretty quiet, but there are days...... If bears are a concern and you'd rather not have the possibility, camp closer to the mill shed, no worries. All the animals stick close to the river. There's never been any drama with the wildlife and we live in harmony here. The odd grizzly bear shows up, and we keep a close eye on them and take logical precautions. Please be bear aware..... August and September are high alert for grizzly bears as the Kokanee (inland salmon) spawn in the river right here!! So schools of redfish will be swimming around down there - they don't eat while spawning and they're protected, but it's quite a sight to see. The grizzlies tend to head straight to the spawning channel upriver to gorge and we rarely see any here, but it is wise to be aware of the possibility. The river is perfect for swimming and diving in high water, but very cold (glacial runoff) which is amazingly refreshing, but don't count on being in it for hours. There's a ladder for a convenient exit from the water and the diving board is perfect!! There's loads of space for tents down by the river, and a glorious 'sacred grove' full of elderberry trees that's quite a breathtaking tent site. The mill shed has standpipes with clean running water from the well, and it's about the cleanest, freshest water on Earth. Glorious. If you need electricity for charging devices it's available at the cabin, as well as wifi. No wifi by the river, sorry, totally off-grid down there and will remain so. There's also a '9 hole' archery course if this is of interest, max.50# draw and longbows only, please. You're welcome to use the targets free of charge if you're staying the night. As a semi-retired chef, writer, musician, farmer, English teacher, entrepreneur and revolutionary, your host can offer impressive gourmet meals to feed body and soul - made with local organic ingredients and great conscious awareness at an agreed-upon price according to your needs. The garden is full of organic veggies, and there may be fresh venison or wild turkey if you're here in the fall. Please no hunting and no guns if you are a guest.  There are amazing day and multi-day hikes within minutes or hours drive, and as a local of many years, your host can provide excellent advice and directions. The creek is fed by numerous small springs and streams coming out of the hillside on the property and up the mountainside. Welcome to Cuddly Cat Farms. This property is our dream come true. Located 5 min from the city of Vernon you have fantastic views of our beautiful valley and are surrounded by Apple Orchards. We were the first people to live on this land and have built everything you see since 2017. When we arrived there were no trees on the property and we have planted some in the campsites which are quite small but will one day be large and mighty. Enjoy 20 beautiful acres just 5 minutes out of Vernon. Close proximity to Kal Lake, Swan Lake and Lake Okanagan. Fantastic hiking trails, biking trails, and watersports close by. We currently have 7 dispersed sites. These sites are set up in a ring, each with their own fire pit when there is no fire ban. There are washrooms and showers at our shop just a little hike from the sites. The water is well water and quite soft, but it is potable. The skinny taps in the washrooms do have filtered water There is potable water for washing dishes ( warm and cold) at the taps on the outside of the shop - near the entrance door for the washrooms. We live on the property as well, up on the hill. We want everyone to have a wonderful experience but do also want you to have your privacy. We venture down to the sites periodically to check but do try to stay out of the way. We look forward to hosting you!

If you're bringing an RV, there are sites that do not require levelling and we can accommodate vehicles up to 75ft in length. Bring your animals - there are a lot of great spaces for them to play! Our yard is equipped for horseback riding with a horse ring and stable.  The property is a great step-off point for ATV, dirt bikes, horseback and hiking adventures.  Potable water, toilet, picnic table, wifi and showers are available.
