Flat landscapes and lakes around every corner make Grande Prairie an RV camping paradise.
Known as "Swan City" due to its close proximity to migratory paths, Grande Prairie is a hot spot for birdwatching and water-based activities—plus RV camping. Head 30 minutes west to explore Saskatoon Island Provincial Park, and if you're driving through in April, stop by Little Lake's viewing platform for swan sightings in. The park's RV campsites offer power hookups, firepits, and dump station access. An hour drive east of Grande Prairie brings campers to Young's Point Provincial Park on the shores of Sturgeon Lake, where RV camping at power-fed campsites with access to hot showers is available from May to October. Motorized boats are welcome in summer, and campers can try ice fishing and skating in winter. For more winter activities, explore Moonshine Lake Provincial Park, featuring three large campgrounds as well as 19 kilometres of trails for cross-country skiing. The boat launch, pier, and sandy beach area make it a big hit in summer, too.
