The town of Monto is a friendly, quaint, rural town on Australia's Country Way (A3) and is home to a wide variety of historical, cultural and artistic experiences in the North Burnett. Monto is the northern and youngest town in the North Burnett and is situated approximately 200 km west of the coastal cities of Bundaberg and Gladstone.
Monto is one of the newest towns in Queensland having come into existence as recently as 1924 when, under the Land Development Scheme, larger properties were resumed and prime agricultural land was provided, in smaller lots, to soldiers who had returned from World War I.
Prior to the arrival of Europeans, the area around Monto was home to people from the Gureng Gureng Aboriginal language group.

On the main road to Agnes Waters, a mere 30 minutes north, is my little slice of paradise. There is a total of 40 acres of bushland here which suffered a huge bushfire a couple of years ago. Now the regrowth is charging up out of the ground and threatening to take over my lifestyle!
While I am a new owner of this lovely land and trying to get a start on building a cabin to live in and starting gardens to feed myself, I offer an area to Hipcampers!
It is not much, as there is nothing here. I am living off grid and have minimal water catchment, so I cannot offer you any water or power at your site....yet (watch this space).
Guests can pitch a tent or park your camper/caravan among the native gums, wattles and grass trees in one of two large drive through sites.
At this stage there are no facilities here, so you will need to be fully self sufficient in regards to toilet, water and power.
There is a slight slope, so if you have a van, it will need levelling.
Camp fires welcome and plenty of undergrowth nearby to forage for wood.
Pets are welcome but must remain on the leash at all times. The property is not fenced from the road or neighboring properties. I also have two dogs who can be protective.
Please inform me ahead at the time of booking if you are bringing pets.
There is a seasonal creek that runs through the property about 100m away. It is a bush trek to get to it (ie: no pathways, yet). And another larger one at the very back end of the property in a gully. Should you wish to get adventurous.

The town of Monto is a friendly, quaint, rural town on Australia's Country Way (A3) and is home to a wide variety of historical, cultural and artistic experiences in the North Burnett. Monto is the northern and youngest town in the North Burnett and is situated approximately 200 km west of the coastal cities of Bundaberg and Gladstone.
Monto is one of the newest towns in Queensland having come into existence as recently as 1924 when, under the Land Development Scheme, larger properties were resumed and prime agricultural land was provided, in smaller lots, to soldiers who had returned from World War I.
Prior to the arrival of Europeans, the area around Monto was home to people from the Gureng Gureng Aboriginal language group.
Enjoy some good old country hospitality and 'tucka' at 1 of 2 town pubs. In town, you will find cafes, great coffee shops, supermarkets, Australia Post, banking, pharmacies, and a variety of other shops. There is also a medical center and a hospital. Bowls and golf can be enjoyed whilst visiting Monto.

The Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail Incorporated is facilitating the development of the disused rail corridor from Taragoola (near Gladstone, Central Queensland), through the Boyne Valley, on to Monto, Eidsvold, Mundubbera and south through to Gayndah in the Burnett Valley.
This property covers those campsites in or adjacent to the Boyne Valley.
The corridor is an inland link between Gladstone and Gayndah, which has great natural scenery, wildlife and historical structures with small country towns spread along its length.

On the main road to Agnes Waters, a mere 30 minutes north, is my little slice of paradise. There is a total of 40 acres of bushland here which suffered a huge bushfire a couple of years ago. Now the regrowth is charging up out of the ground and threatening to take over my lifestyle!
While I am a new owner of this lovely land and trying to get a start on building a cabin to live in and starting gardens to feed myself, I offer an area to Hipcampers!
It is not much, as there is nothing here. I am living off grid and have minimal water catchment, so I cannot offer you any water or power at your site....yet (watch this space).
Guests can pitch a tent or park your camper/caravan among the native gums, wattles and grass trees in one of two large drive through sites.
At this stage there are no facilities here, so you will need to be fully self sufficient in regards to toilet, water and power.
There is a slight slope, so if you have a van, it will need levelling.
Camp fires welcome and plenty of undergrowth nearby to forage for wood.
Pets are welcome but must remain on the leash at all times. The property is not fenced from the road or neighboring properties. I also have two dogs who can be protective.
Please inform me ahead at the time of booking if you are bringing pets.
There is a seasonal creek that runs through the property about 100m away. It is a bush trek to get to it (ie: no pathways, yet). And another larger one at the very back end of the property in a gully. Should you wish to get adventurous.

• I have 70 acres of beautiful land which you can, bush walk, swim in the dam

You will need to be fully self sufficient, there are no ammenities - no water, no power. What we do have is a beautiful environment rich in nature and gorgeous views.
We have cattle and horses which roam freely throughout the property.

You will find us about 3.5 km on the left, there is a red 40 ft container and cattle yards at the front of the property near the entrance gate.
Our gates must be kept closed at all times.

We had a wonderful experience at Fig Tree Camp. The hosts are incredibly supportive, caring, and friendly, which made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The campsite is very clean, well-secured, and well-maintained, giving us great peace of mind throughout our stay.
The surroundings are absolutely picturesque — a beautiful natural location perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The friendly animals around the camp added a special touch, especially for families and nature lovers.
Everything was thoughtfully organized, and you can really feel the care the hosts put into the place. This is one of the best Hipcamp stays in Queensland, and we would love to visit again without hesitation.

We recently had a fantastic time over the three days and two nights we stayed. If you are looking for space, peace and quiet, there is plenty of it here. The drive into the property is scenic, we saw a calf being born on the way in, lots of cattle, bird life including an emu & chick and horses. There's plenty to see and do, lots of wild life all over the property. Col and Blodwen were amazing and very friendly, made us feel welcome and at ease during our stay. There is plenty of camping area for larger gatherings or multiple groups. There's a RV site also for anyone to use. The directions to the property were easy to understand and if you have questions they are eager to help out. We missed the rain to get the creeks flowing but it didn't disappoint. We will be going back, most definitely.
Not forgetting our two dogs got a very well deserved time away also.

They provided great information and maps of both the campground and surrounding area, which made it super easy to explore and find everything.
