After laying in the sand at Navarro Beach, give your ocean kissed fingers some exercise with easy to moderate climbs (good chance to learn to use trad gear) on Navarro Boulder - a 20 foot high monolith of sandstone.

Choppier currents await you, 26 miles of them actually, suitable for rafting and kayaking upstream of Rancheria Creek. Check out some beginner and some fearsome runs at the nearby Henry Woods State Park.

Wildlife at Navarro takes shape on fin, foot and wing. If you’re not looking for the splash of steelhead as you cast a wayward line, then keep your eyes out for river oriented birds, such as the belted kingfisher. You may also find wandering black-tailed deer in a forest grove and mischief prone raccoons in your food bag if you leave it out.
