Description
Alpine Meadows Campground boasts close proximity to Lake Tahoe and delicious lakeside property. The camp itself is shaded and private, but be on your best “green" behavior. It’s cool to take a peaceful float through the water on your kayak or canoe, but no motors are permitted. Don’t plan on catching dinner here. The lake is deemed a “catch and release trophy trout" lake. If you want to take in all the beauty of Martis Creek Lake, try the 4.3 mile hiking and biking trail that loops around the valley. Don’t just take our word for it, come see all that is wet ‘n’ wild for yourself!

We stayed here on a road trip last summer. Campsites are well-spaced apart, and we found a campsite on a Sunday in July, which felt lucky in Tahoe. There was also a group of fellow campers playing chamber music while sitting around their campsite, but that's probably not such a regular occurrence. It's not a great base for the lake, as it's definitely a good 15 minutes driving to get to the lake, but it's a great place to explore Truckee & surrounding trails.
