San Miguel Campground
Description
Find fun in the sun just south of Santa Barbara with a bit of Carpinteria camping! For swimming, surfing, and seaside explorations, this Carpinteria State Beach campground really can’t be beat. Although San Miguel Campground is primarily for trailers and RVs, it does offer some tent-camping space on the innermost row. This Carpinteria State Beach campground also has premium beachfront spots for RVs and trailers, but these do not have hookups. RV campers should be sure to check into length restrictions before booking a site.

If you are tent camping, skip this one. Yeah, it's across from the beach, but tent campers are stuck on a dirt strip, just a few feet from their neighbors, no trees, no shade and just in front of the railroad tracks where trains are frequent. Across from the dirt strip camping area are rows upon row of RVs of all sizes and shapes parked on diagonal spots on asphalt, cheek to jowl. You can hear the roar of the surf, but can't see it. Try reserving a tent spot in the Santa Rosa campground, at least you get a grassy spot with some real estate between you and your neighbor.
Easy access for RVs. Gorgeous views. Can walk to the brewery, restaurants, and stores from here.
