Welcome to our safe-space Rustic Black Lab Retreat where Sullivan is resident lab! While our property is situated in the middle of the village of Pugwash and is well under an acre we offer it as a hip camp listing because we think it's a piece of paradise with a big vibe and plenty of room to relax. We offer simple amenities such as a bbq, picnic tables and campfire chairs. There’s an outdoor shower, an outdoor kitchen and a big deck to chill on. Maybe you need a night or two to catch up with practical matters but still want to feel like you're in nature - if so this could be the place for you. We check fire ban restrictions daily and will keep campers informed of the status. If it's raining we will try to accommodate you inside our home!

Galla Designs Studio is located on a lovely 22 acre farm on the oceanfront, 5 km from the ferry. It featurs a beautiful artisans storefront with over 60 local artisans, food items and coffee. It is also home to the Belle River Post office. Please let us know if you need to arrive after 8pm. Please see parking instructions as there is no turn around in the main driveway. Also - the island has mosquitos so please bring bug spray. WIFI is available at the store. Please no generators from 10pm-8am (some exceptions may apply). To find us Google maps sometimes does not like wood Islands as our city so please use Belle River. About 50m just west of our main entrance to the farm and store, you will see a farm road that is marked with "1167 FARM" address sign. Please use that road to come in and just after the little wooded section it will open up and you will see a picnic table to your right. You can park in there. If you need help with anything, just call my cell phone 902-326-1015 Please note that there could be another camper if booked, so please park accordingly. Store is located in the small white barn next to the white house. The black building nearest the camp area is my parents house - not the store, so plesae do not walk in there. ;) lol **Google road and satellite photos are very old

Nestled in the trees on a large deck with the sounds of birds and squirrels all around, this unique structure spans 15 ft across with 14 triangular sides. It holds a double bed, dinning table, rocking chair, 3 burner stove, sink with water, full kitchenette and all the cooking utensils you need. The wood stove keeps the space very warm and cozy and we offer professional massage and reiki. You can walk, ski or bike for hours along a river. Or visit towering gypsum cliffs that host huge bat caves.. Our yurt is tucked away in the trees of our 20 acre wood lot. We provide lots of wood and fire starter for the wood stove but guests should have experience with wood stoves (or be really keen to learn). The stove is big enough to easily heat the whole yurt to cozy comfort but guests should expect to have to keep the stove going in order to keep the space warm and this may mean stoking it once in the night. We provide lots of extra blankets and two pairs of extra slippers for those who forget to bring their own. The solar panel creates enough power to run the lights, charge a cell phone and sometimes a computer but not much more. The space is beautiful, unique and quite dreamy but it is rustic. There is a composting toilet next to the yurt (with hand sanitizer but no sink) and outdoor showers (with hot water) near our farm house. There is a three burner propane cook stove, cooking and dining wares and a small sink for dishes. There are all the utensils that you may need to cook for yourself but there is limited counter space so cooking elaborate meals is possible but could be cumbersome. There is a cooler and we can stock it with ice packs upon request. We supply coffee and a french press,. We also offer massage and reiki to guests for $90 (60 min). Morghain Lee is a massage therapist and Reiki Master and enjoys blending these two body therapies for a holistic healing experience. There is an outdoor fire pit and star gazing chairs. We ask that you only use natural soaps in the shower, the sink, pond or river. We have some Dr Bronners if you like:) Cell reception on the land depends on the provider but most people have weak service (one or two bars). Enough to maintain a phone connection (if you are not walking around too much) but not enough to download videos. Some people have more or less. We do allow pets but we ask for an extra $15 contribution to compensate for the extra cleaning. We also ask that dogs not be on the bed and that they don't chase our chickens or kittens. There are outdoor showers available in spring, summer and fall when the pipes won't freeze. For those wanting to stay for longer periods in the winter we can discuss usage of the shower in our house.

Overview

About

Nestled beside the historic Balmoral Grist Mill Museum, Balmoral Mills Provincial Park offers a tranquil escape. Visitors can indulge in leisurely picnics, immerse themselves in the calm of nature, and explore the picturesque surroundings on foot. While the park does not feature campgrounds, its close ties with the museum provide a unique cultural backdrop to every visit, making it an ideal spot for a day trip filled with relaxation and discovery.

When to go

The best time to visit Balmoral Mills Provincial Park is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and the museum is likely to be open. Autumn also offers a spectacular display of foliage. Winters can be harsh, and the park may be less accessible due to snow, so it's less ideal for visits.

Know before you go

  • Check the Balmoral Grist Mill Museum operating hours before planning your visit, as the park is operated by the museum.
  • Wear comfortable footwear suitable for walking and exploring the scenic areas.
  • Bring a picnic basket and enjoy a meal amid the park's natural beauty.
  • Be mindful of the local wildlife and maintain a respectful distance.
  • Remember to carry out all trash and keep the park pristine for others to enjoy.
