This 1914 WAGR built Guards Van, sits near the old railway line at Wooroloo, which is now the popular KEP track for walkers and cyclists. Cute and careful rebuild creates this charming tiny home for 1 or 2 travelling light. Wooroloo is 35 minutes into the Perth Hills, central to Northam, York, Toodyay and Midland, and 10 minutes from Lake Leschenaltia. Sits alongside the old post office on a garden and bush acre. In season flowing water trickles by into a winter creek. Modern, sustainably low consumption.2 X 11m cosy space has a divided bedroom and sitting area, separate bathroom/toilet and separate kitchen, outside covered verandah. Environmentally sensitive build and fitout. Access and use of 1 acre garden and bush property with winter creek trickling by. On the main village road which is popular with car clubs and cyclists on some Sundays. NO TELEVISION Access must consider, a narrow bathroom doorway of 40cm and passageway of 60cm, and there are steps. Runs on low power still providing enough to cook, wash and keep warm, but not all appliances can be used at once (like kettle and toaster) RCD fuses are handy in the kitchen if it needs resetting. Like a caravan. Hot shower water will last 3.5-4 minutes. Reheats in 20 minutes. A modern separation toilet is in place. These keep liquid and solid waste divided, which eliminates smell and is highly environmentally friendly. Everyone must sit down to use. A standard water flushing toilet is also available outside, 25m away across the yard, it’s an old Aussie outside dunny. Park right next to the carriage. This renovated 1914 train carriage was once a working guards (or brake) van, sitting at the end of the train, servicing the rail line that once came through Wooroloo. These are a little narrower than usual train carriages, allowing for the window boxes that extruded out for the guards to peek down the line. Now a cosy tiny home for one or two. Inhouse: - Double Bed & linen, pillows, electric plush wool under blanket. - Limited Hot Shower - 3/4 minutes, reheats in 20 minutes -Towels, facecloths, hand and body wash - Separating Toilet inside, keeps solids and liquid waste separate (everyone sits down to use this one). - Outside water flush toilet - Oil heater - Washer/Dryer, OMO sensitive detergent/softener pods - Two-Burner electric Stove - Microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee plunger - Dishes, glasses, mugs, cutlery, pots, frying pans, utensils - Full size fridge - Sink, detergent, cloths, tea towels - Chairs & desk table inside - Chairs and table on verandah - Bar stools for verandah or kitchen - Salt & Pepper - Instant coffee, decaf, tea, decaf, rooibos, chocolate, sugar. Long life milk available. - Wifi What to pack? Tech and chargers. There is no TV. Bring clothes, toiletries, sunscreen & hat, insect repellent. Coats, beanies, scarves and gloves recommended in cold weather, it can get pretty brisk outside overnight and in the mornings. But its very cosy inside. Drinks & food. Our fridge is full size so you can bring all your provisions including ice if you need more than 2 trays a fridge makes. Supermarkets are available at Mundaring (20mins) and Northam (35mins), and will also deliver. Within 10 minutes, a roadhouse for food and fuel, and the pubs regularly have live music and meals at Chidlow Tavern and Loosefoot Tavern. A great location to access the Perth eastern hills, Swan Valley and Avon valleys about 30-40 minutes away. Fire Risk cancellation policy. If our area is under an active extreme/catastophic bushfire warning, The Guards Van will need to close and you will not be able to stay. Full refunds will be provided. On days of "EXTREME" fire danger you will have the option to cancel up until the day of the booking with a full refund. We will keep you informed but please be aware of the fire danger ratings and emergency websites.
