Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2023.
Our private Campground is centrally located on the Olympic Peninsula. We are a Campground, we are not a Hip Camp, we just advertise through them. Paying for extra days or rentals, wood, propane firepits, are done at pay station at Campground or by phone. We have 21 tent sites on the West side of Pavel Road close to the river. 13 are river view sites. These are on Hip Camp, we have more tent sites and some are big enough for a RV on the East side of Pavel Road that aren't on Hip Camp, Call us from our website dawleysrivercamping.com for details, availability and reservation. We have beautiful woods with trees, ferns, moss, and the Sol Duc River runs adjacent to our property. Beautiful views of the Sol Duc River from some of the sites and a short walk to the right of the parking lot to the Fish Hatchery, stay to the right there will be a boat launch and beach to fish and play. Just a 20-minute drive to the Pacific Ocean and a 20-minute drive to the straits of Juan de Fuca. Just a one-hour drive from our site to Cape Flattery, short hike down to a rocky viewpoint overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Tatoosh Island, which is the farthest NW Point in the Continental US! We have sites with beautiful river views, 9 walk-in sites, and 12 drive-up sites. 4 of the walk-in sites are river views 4, 5, 6 and 8. The drive-in sites with river views are 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 20, and 21. There are more sites on the other part of the Campground, contact us directly. The Fish Hatchery is right next door and has a boat launch, beach, and lots of fishing. The river at the Hatchery is great to float on, fish, and just play. Activities nearby include: Pacific Ocean beaches, Pleasant Lake, Crescent Lake, Beaver Lake, Snyder Lookout for stargazing, Olympic Discovery Trail, kayak floating, the area is great for hiking, biking, mushroom and fossil hunting, wildlife viewing, ATV trails, and much, much more, come have some fun.

Site 11 river view drive up
What a lovely little campground! Has everything you need and is quiet, beautiful, and the gnomes everywhere were super cute. You can tell they really care about your experience. Even though the sites are close together it still felt private. I will definitely be back!

Site 13 River View drive up
Great Campground, Site 13 OK
We stayed 2 nights in Site 13 off-season. There were only 4 other sites occupied during our stay so we got a lot of privacy. Excellent location. Plenty of room for our tent, bathroom shelter, tarp, sedan, and more. $20 a wheelbarrow for wood. Rachel was really responsive by phone when I had questions. Things to Improve: -Site 13 is huge but very wide and shallow— if you want to pitch your tent near the fire/picnic table, your options are immediately next to or pretty close to the road that passes through the campground. Felt exposed. Luckily there wasn't much traffic, but there are a few other sites that were much deeper where you could pitch your tent away from the noise of passing cars. -We woke up to gunshots pretty early on our first morning. Apparently there is private land across the river where occasionally people hunt. We only heard it our first morning and Rachel says it isn’t a common occurrence. -The listing mentioned a sink station. We weren’t informed until after we arrived that the sink station is shut down in the off-season. Luckily we were set up with our sink bins as back-up but this did require an extra trip into town for more water. -We were looking forward to trying out the grill set attached to the fire pit but it was extremely rusty. We stuck with cooking on our stove. tl;dr: Nice campground in the off-season, not terribly crowded and very clean/well-maintained. Happy to visit the campground again in the future but I probably would select another site.

Great spot, lovely and peaceful with the sounds of river below. Campsite was clean and wanted for nothing. Hosts were very friendly, all around it was a great experience.
