Come enjoy our hidden spot near Meadows of Dan, centered on an old Quarry. Created to extract aggregate for paving the nearby highway in the middle of the 20th century (no exotic metals or noxious quarrying methods). A tucked away enclave of sheer stone faces and abundant wildlife at approximately 3,000 ft. in elevation. Less than 3 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the historic Mabry Mill. Minutes away from spectacular hiking at Rocky Knob, Rock Castle Gorge, and Buffalo Mountain. Walking distance to stocked trout fishing in the Dan River. A beautiful place to come get away in the mountains. For RVs, a flat level gravel pad that can accommodate a rig of virtually any size.
Tents may decide to set up on the gravel pad, venture deeper inside the Quarry itself, on the Quarry rim, or in the woods.
A trail runs from either side of the Quarry up to the top. In winter, the rim offers long range views of Buffalo Mountain.
