In a remote valley, along the banks of Craig's Creek, just north of Roanoke VA, the property includes mature hardwood forest, pasture, and an 1830s log cabin where we live. We love to share this special place with visitors, and have some basic amenities for campers. The campsites are at the edge of a large pasture and just a few steps from Craig Creek and our big swimmin' hole. Totally secluded in a remote valley - no houses or roads in sight (but our cabin is a short walk through the woods if you need something), no cell service for most providers, but within a short drive of Roanoke and Blacksburg, and countless outdoor recreation opportunities.

Bell Tent at Cedar Grove
Great spot
Sweet site! The bell tent was very comfortable and there’s a great little fire pit. The location is excellent for hiking and it was easy enough to get to Salem/Roanoke for needs. We were a little closer to the road and to other sites/tenants than I realized at booking but I was still comfortable with it. Would stay again!

Bell Tent at Cedar Grove
Beautiful Semi-primitive spot
Grabbed the dome tent spot with three friends this past weekend and had an excellent time! If you bring another air mattress it’s excellent accommodations for that size group. The hosts were friendly and helpful, they were present for any concerns or questions but largely hands-off. The spot is fairly private and peaceful, it’s in a great big field (perfect for stargazing, and boy are there stars out here) bordered by woods with a nice creek at the base of the hill to the south. Town is a short drive away, and there are lots of outdoor things to do and see within an hour’s drive. We all fully recommend this spot. The tent was cozy. As long as you aren’t bothered by a lack of electricity and potable water (and cell reception for some of us) you’re in for a real lovely time here!

The creek is lovely and the mountain views are beautiful. The property is a little smaller than I pictured based on the photos and the campsites are not far from the road. You can see and hear the road. Also, PLEASE NOTE there are no quiet hours at this Hipcamp….. an attractive policy to those that like to bring speakers camping and play loud music the whole time. This was the case when we were there, the next campsite over from us essentially played music 24 hours a day. This was hard…. Far from the peaceful weekend in the outdoors we were looking for. Ned was very friendly and has a lot of knowledge about the area.

Ned was a perfect host; he gave perfect directions and met us in the driveway to direct us to our site. The site was flat and mowed. it was perfectly quiet for the night. there was firewood at the site for us to use, idk if Ned put it there or the last camper left it, but it was a nice surprise. HIs provided outhouses were a bit scarry to us, so we just popped up our own tent & porta potty. we only stayed the night because it was so close to the hike we were doing the following day. The Dragons Tooth. Will definitely stay again when we plan to do the other hikes in his area.
