Established in 1970, Montara Wines is owned by the Stapleton family. 200km West of Melbourne in the Grampians region, Montara has the most captivating panorama of plains, mountains and vines. With amazing views and even better crafted wine, we make the perfect get away. Each of our sites are very spacious valuing the privacy of each of our guests. There is a portable toilet available to use. We have pizzas, cocktails, beer and wine available at cellar door. Please look at our facebook page for opening hours and upcoming events. Can’t top this….
We stayed in Cabin #1 for a couple of nights and it was fantastic. The cabins are small but self contained with a little bathroom (excellent shower), kitchenette (fully equipped) and large comfortable bed. The floor to ceiling windows give a spectacular view over the vineyards, night or day but watch out for that early morning sun if it takes you a while to wake up. Elisha, Boots and Jai looked after us without exception. You’re 5 minutes from town if you need supplies (we got some salad to accompany the pizzas Montara whipped up (very good)). Have a glass of their Riesling or Montara Pinot Noir while waiting for the pizza - again with an outstanding view across the valley. Order a bag of wood - this is the perfect spot to sit around a fire with a vino after dinner. This is our third or fourth visit (motorcycle camping albeit down the hill). Sounds a bit like a paid advertisement but if you visit, you’ll see why the rant. Enjoy. We will on our next visit.

Loved our stay. Safe and secluded and private. Enough room between other campers. Loved the wood pizza. Thanks again

Montara Magic
Great site at the bottom of the hill, with paddocks in front looking out towards the mountains and valleys, the the hills of vines and cellar door upon the hill behind. We had a portaloo a couple sites over which was convenient, but also the camp kitchen with toilets on a couple on minutes walk towards the winery sheds. Pizzas were a nice touch and the cellar door itself with its converted bus bar was a delight. Will 100% be coming back!

Great campsite. Very pretty, decent amenities, and helpful people. It has a kitchen with a microwave, fridge, and freezer (right next to site 3). We weren't aware before we booked it. The toilet doesn't flush too well, but it works. There are 2 actual flushing toilets as well, one at the cellar door and the other at the kitchen next to site 3. Site 7 is very close to sites 8, and 9, but we were given the option to camp away near the toilet at an unmarked site, which was fantastic. Pizza and wine were decent. Best of all, 6 mins drive to Woolies, 30 min to Grampians.

Montara Winery
We had the most lovely long weekend at Montara. We had initially booked site number 10, but upon our arrival we were offered another site that was a little more secluded with the most beautiful view. A short stroll along the perimeter of vines and we were at the cellar door. They have the most beautiful bus that has been fitted out as a bar and the views are spectacular. Great wine too! Our trip was topped off by the many sightings of kangaroos, wallabies and bunnies! So much do around the area, great day trips to be had. We will be back for sure!
