91 Gordons Bridge Road was once part of a pine plantation that had been planted in the late 60's and harvested just prior to the Black Saturday fires. Across the road from the Kinglake National Park, it is surrounded by protected flora and fauna. Victoria's Pink heath, wattles and tea tree provide a pleasant backdrop in season. It is not an uncommon site to see an echidna or two on the property, with black wallabies, kangaroos and wombats often seen grazing on pasture in the evening. The mud turrets are the home of endangered land yabbies and Lyrebirds have been seen in the area. Feral deer have come to inhabit nearby properties and sometimes wonder down the track. Birds watchers will enjoy a variety of bird life that inhabit the area including eagle hawks, fairy wrens, kookaburras, rosellas, parrots and yellow tailed black cockatoos when in season. The area is a popular spot for hikers with the start of the Mountain Creek trail only a few kms down Gordons Bridge Road and serious cyclists train regularly, on Mount Slide, especially on the weekend. For the serious wine lover the property is within 15km of the Yarra Valley Wine Growing area with many wineries offering tastings.

Good camping in the backyard!
It was a good first camping experience for us overall. It did feel like camping in someone's backyard. Not as remote as we would have liked. It was the only place available at the time. The host was nice and friendly. Nice walking track nearby. We suffered really bad hay fever reactions due to the camp ground is below a dirt road and every time a vehicle drove past, lots of dirt came down. So it's not recommended if you suffer bad hay fever!

Definately worth it!
Its a nice quiet tidy spot for a quick short stay. We chose this spot for a "test run" of our gear before xmas, that wasn't too far from home and was very cheap. Peaceful pretty bush setting with lovely birds and echidnas. Lots of bush walking and some waterfalls nearby. Its not somewhere you'd go for a long stay unless you're an avid hiker, but very much worth it for the low price and basic facilities and water. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
