Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Please read all the info before you book... This is an ideal spot for a quiet getaway or as a home base if you want to explore the surrounding areas of Dunolly or Dunolly itself. Early mornings and late evenings you may be lucky to receive visits from Kangaroos. Camp freely around the designated campfire and enjoy an amazing star-gazing experience (on clear nights). The water hole is good for yabbies and great for skipping stones. We swim in it occasionally but prefer to go to the lake. We cannot endorse any swimming or entering the water hole as it is a liability issue and we cannot be responsible for anyone who chooses to swim or enter the area of the waterhole. Dunolly town has a great bakery, a pub, and a supermarket. Lake Laanacoorie 15 mins drive. Great for fishing, boats, and swimming. ***Pit-toilet (portable) available: - There is a pit toilet available for camper use but it's recommended to have a portaloo and use the onsite dunny as an emergency only. ***Keep Clean. -We ask that you take any rubbish with you when you leave. We would appreciate it if you could leave the property as you found it on arrival. ***Warning. -Regular pest control in the area might be a threat to your pet so please ensure that your pet does not stray too far off the property without your supervision. Pest control is usually concentrated in the state forest behind the property. ***Fire Wood: - You can BYO firewood or collect from the roadside. The state forest at the rear may be helpful but please don't cut down any trees. There is often a fallen tree that you can chop up if you have a chainsaw but it'll be easier to find on the roadside or BYO. If I'm able to provide firewood it'll be stacked but this is not something to depend on as it just depends on availability and time that I may not have. ***More info. -The campsite is close to the water hole which means it's also at the front of the property and approx 120m from the main road. You will see a vehicle passing by maybe once per hour in the daytime.Early mornings and late evenings are often attended by kangaroos. Camp freely around the designated campfire and enjoy an amazing star-gazing experience (on clear nights). Watering hole is good for yabbies and great for skipping stones but swimming is at your own risk. The local town has a great bakery, a pub, and a supermarket. Lake Laanacoorie is a 15-minute drive. Conditions weren't ideal this time
To be honest, we didn't end up camping here. We really loved the set up. Danny has an awesome fire pit, ample shade, lots of fire wood, the portable toilet would've been handy and lots of space for the tents and kids to run around and play. The problem was, due to all the rain recently we presume, nearly the whole place was thick with long grass which had spikey points on it. We were there for about 20 mins and all 8 of us and both dogs were covered, the spikey blades went through your pants and socks and was just not nice, so we had to leave and find another option 40 mins down the road. Under the right conditions or if there was a whipper snipper on site, we would've had an amazing time, I have no doubt.

We had a great time over Easter at Danny's property. 6 humans and 3 dogs who had the absolute time of their lives running through the field. Danny is an incredibly attentive host - answering every question, sending through a pdf for his property and just setting us up to have a great time. The campsite is close to a road, but it's a very quiet road and didn't ruin the experience at all. The fire pit is really well setup, we cooked every meal on it. It was just us and it was a great place to setup to explore the area. A happy Easter was had by all!

Relaxing weekend in Dunolly.
My husband and I had a great long weekend at Dunolly Camper Roos. We took our caravan, and we had the place all to ourselves, along with some kangaroos who came by a few times. It was peaceful, and relaxing. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather too. Danny had left firewood for us alongside a great fire pit, which was much appreciated! The property backs onto a state forest, and we did some bush walking on the well made tracks. We also rode our mountain bikes on other tracks across the road, into Dunolly. Nice little town, and we also enjoyed visiting other nearby towns such as Maryborough and Avoca. Danny was great to communicate with, prompt responses with clear instructions etc.
