Please be advised, that during heavy rain four-wheel drive may be necessary but in all cases low clearance vehicles are not ideal on the last section of road but if you arrive before dark and go slow any vehicle can make it. Units are not heated. Please plan to show up before dark for the best experience and ease of finding the location. Indian Canyon Ranch is proud to be an independent, off grid property with limited solar power and water available. There are no RV hook ups available but there is limited solar power in the rental units and in the communal area but not in the primitive campsites. Campsites are primitive camping only. Showers in the main communal area are solar powered and only hot with the sun and for an hour or so after sunset Joe purchased this property in 2008. At that time, it was 8 acres, and it is now at 20 acres continuous property. The ranch is situated 2 miles off the highway down a bumpy dirt road on the edge of the national forest, this gives you a feeling of being in the wilderness. The south and east sides are boarded by canyons and ruins. All other private properties in the area are 10 acres or more so are well spread out and sparsely populated. All the structures on site were brought here piece by piece and were salvaged from construction projects in Yosemite and Grand Canyon national parks. Water is manually hauled in and the power in the kitchen area is solar generated so please be conscious of water and power use.

Beam’s Camp, Primitive Camping
You need a high-clearance vehicle to get here, as the camp host makes clear. We use a slide-in camper in a Tacoma. The property was very quiet, we heard no vehicle noises. We found that the amenities were much better than we expected. There's a solar shower, fast wifi, a picnic table and a table to prepare meals. The host is very friendly as are his dogs, which are well trained and didn't bother us at all. We enjoyed our stay and thought that the campsite was a bargain.

Booked this place pretty last minute while heading towards Arizona. Joe's communication was very timely and courteous. What a COOL campground this place was as opposed to me car camping in the truck bed in the middle of the desert on my own. Just as the post suggests, it was nice to have a truck that could handle a short bit of some washed out road. As a solo traveler, it was also nice to have Joe's pups come keep my company at the end of the day. Look forward to coming back here whenever I get the chance.

I LOVED!! Originally booked for one night and decided to extend to two! The common areas are well kept, Joe supplies just about everything water, dishes, gas stove, firewood, corn hole, picnic tables ! I loved the outdoor shower, there is an enclosed shower stall inside the outdoor area. Roxy, River, and Cortez are the cutest!! We definitely enjoyed their company. Will be booking again!

Don’t show up after hours
We were doing a cross country trip and we had car issues the night we were going to stay at this place. I explained that to host and when we showed up the host screamed at us with a beer in his hand saying that we should have shown up earlier since the road is VERY ROUGH! He had 3 dogs with him that were aggressive and tried biting our dog. We had a very bad feeling that we shouldn’t stay here so we decided to leave. If you don’t have a truck or show up after hours, avoid this place at all costs. I have never dealt with a host that was this rude to his guests. Was no help and just kept on screaming at us to get going. Looked like the beer in his hand was not the first one of the day.

Best $25 I ever spent!
I loved tent camping on Joe’s land! The property is beautiful and had everything you could possibly want for camping: solar powered showers, large outdoor kitchen with pots/pans/utensils, outhouses, potable water, fire pits, and even fresh eggs for purchase. There is a lovely communal aspect if you are interested in meeting other travelers. Joe, the host, is super friendly and will make sure you find your site comfortably. Canyonlands, Moab, and Arches are all accessible from the site (about a hour away). You’ll be greeted by three sweet dogs when you arrive! Could not recommended this site enough!

Amazing site all around!!!
Amazing time, Joes got it made out there and is so hospitable and super helpful. Everything you need and more here at this site. Clean serene and secluded with fantastic company. My dog fit in so well with his great 3 dogs they formed a pack! All around good for everyone. Thanks again joe, hope to come back 🤙
