Highland Bayou Kayak and SUP Palapa
Laid back off grid Oasis!
This off grid rental location is amazing! The owner Jeanette is extremely accommodating and has great communication with you. She also left a lot of nice touches around the property to help make your stay accommodated for. I felt like I was vacationing in a waterfront tree house. There were so many things that I packed thinking there wouldn't be at the property itself. Jeanette provided lanterns, kayaks and a SUP, a telescope for stargazing, cots and comfortable mats, life jackets, fans, a bag of bubbles and fun stuff for kids, a cooler, sleeping bags, a cot for your dog and many other items within the rental. We noticed in the bathrooms she has a mirror that has storage inside with a few things you might be able to use or need like sunscreen eye drops and extra toothpaste. Just a lot of little sweet thoughtful things we noticed that she included. The neighbors were friendly and also kept to themselves. The property was very clean and we had the best weekend! I also loved that the yard is now fenced in so it gives your dog a lot of freedom without you having to look over your shoulder all the time. There are some little funny goats that roam around so you absolutely have to keep the gate totally closed or they will try to come in the yard and eat her beautiful plants that she is growing around the property. It's a very short drive to the beach. We highly recommend Jeanette's property and we look forward to returning again in the near future!

Highland Bayou Kayak and SUP Palapa
Spring Break away from the crowds
The palapa was a ton of fun. It’s exactly what we needed! As a parent of plugged-in too often kids, I didn’t want to take them somewhere with tvs and well, plugs.. (although we were pleasantly surprised that there was a nice battery bank there to use to charge stuff and blow up our air mattresses). My oldest opted to sleep out on the deck and we were perfectly comfy in the palapa! The SUP and kayaks were a hit, as well as fishing right there off the back. Directions and accessing the place all easy! It’s about a 25-30 minute drive to the Galveston Pleasure Pier area/beach. We had a great time, thanks Jeanette!

Awesome experience!
We really loved this place. The property is right on the water. The tree house is so simple, and cute, but had everything necessary. We planned to set up tents but it rained all weekend, so the 5 of us enjoyed our time playing games inside. And we had plenty of room to sleep there too. Jeannette did an amazing job of providing all sorts of things to do - things for the beach, fans, lights, kayaks. I was very impressed with what she offered. We would for sure stay again!
