Nala Pakana is a 79-acre vegetarian/vegan property nestled in native Australian bush roughly one hour's drive from Hobart Tasmania. Join us to camp on this unique property or stay in our wee heritage caravan named Tree Spirit. There is an abundance of firewood on the ground for you to collect and use at no charge. A wildlife refuge where love and care for the natural environment are highly prioritised. Verona Sands beach is located at the end of the road, the ferry to Bruny Island half an hour away, and there are ample opportunities to see black cockatoos, wallabies, paddymelons, echidnas, faery wrens, wedge-tailed eagles and so many more bird species, a twitcher's paradise. The small wooden home is off the grid, built by hand over forty years ago with timber from the property and no power tools. There is an extensive permaculture garden enclosed by a corrugated iron fence built from recycled materials. The resident companion animals are three dogs, a cat, three bunnies, two roosters, 16 chickens, and two goats. Nick and Theresa have one eight year-old daughter who follows a natural learning approach to education, so no school. We spend our time gardening, building from recycled materials, and cooking. Nick is a fantastic bush builder and can mend, renovate anything out of scraps. Theresa is a very experienced Ayurvedic vegan cook and gardener along with a professional writer and provider of Spiritual Readings. Nick spent many years as a school teacher and canvas maker Theresa taught meditation, mindful living, and cooking. Nick continues to work as a school teacher part-time. Both Nick and Theresa share a great love for the natural world, natural living, and a life informed by intuition. Theresa, Nick, and their daughter are all vegans and Nala Pakana is a vegetarian property that welcomes good dogs who don't need fencing and won't kill the wildlife. ** Extras - You will also find this information in the extras section. * Cooked vegan meals inspired by Ayurvedic wisdom made by hand and delivered to you in an Indian Tiffin or join us in our little cosy home of crazy eccentrics. No cost. * Join Nick on a tour of the buildings covering how to build using reclaimed materials, possible costs, environmental factors, stumping, fencing, keeping wildlife out of gardens, mortars and so much more. No cost. * (Spiritual) Reading - With over three decades of experience as a Reiki practitioner, flower essence therapist and Reader Theresa is well-placed to bring to you the wisdom you seek and illuminate your path for you. Readings are $50 Australian. * Guided bushwalk with guided meditation Join Theresa on a walk around the beautiful bush of Nala Pakana and through a walking guided meditation connect with the nature spirits, gain an understanding of how the ecosystem works in conjunction with Aboriginal Traditional Burning, habitat, elementals and elements and more besides. No cost. We welcome all enquiries and questions so please reach out and we will respond in a timely manner.Camping spots and vintage caravan with covered deck. We live on 79 acres of virgin Aboriginal bushland, backing onto state forest, high on a hill, overlooking Bruny Island and the Southwest wilderness. Beautiful local beaches abound such as Verona Sands. We are offering campsites for 2wd vehicles and up to 8.5m caravan sites for 4wd vehicles. Our land is strictly vegetarian (ideally vegan), with no amenities, no water, no power, RIRO (rubbish in rubbish out). There is also a caravan called Tree Spirit, it's the original real deal 1960s (?) with an covered deck attached, electric light on the deck and in Tree Spirit. Yree Spirit has a double bed and single bed or little seating area. There's a small drop toilet in it's own little building. Nala Pakana (Aboringal for Earth People) is a beautifully peaceful spot, home to wallabies, paddymelons, echidnas, Wedge Tailed Eagles, and an array of birds such as currawongs, kookaburras, black cockatoos, faery wrens and more. In respect of this and other campers, noise from generators, music and the like is tolerable provided other campers aren't disturbed. A dog can be brought to the site provided it strictly does not hunt other animals nor makes a lot of noise. Campfires are welcomed (provided there are no fire bans enforced) if you are willing to collect your own fallen limb wood. There is a plentiful supply of fallen limb wood on the ground for you to gather but trees cannot be felled for fires. There is a primitive drop toilet for all to use. Some sites are near tall trees but if falling limbs are a concern, we also have less treed spots. Nala Pakana is a special place, magic happens here. Beautifully suited for writers, nature lovers and deep relaxation silent retreats, and romantic connection. Please ask if you'd like dinner provided, we can make you a meal that suits your taste buds and dietary requirements, birthday cakes included. We welcome your inquiry.

Warm Hospitality and Amazing People
This was the absolute best Hipcamp experience anyone could ever hope for. Theresa, Nick and their crew invited us in and really made us feel at home. Their home is warm and full of life, and we would not hesitate to book again, in fact, we're hoping to be able to travel down there again asap. Highly recommended, wonderful people and a beautiful spot in the incredible Tasmanian bush.

New friends
My son and I had a lovely time staying at Nala Pakana. Theresa, Nick and Honey were so kind and inviting, allowing us to enter their home, sharing their food and letting us explore their entire property. We were lucky enough to be able to use the very comfortable caravan with enclosed deck. A great spot, recommended for families with kids and travellers looking for somewhere comfy to call home while they explore southern Tasmania.

Blissed out
My family of four had such a great time with Theresa, Honey, and Nick, that we never managed to leave for day trips and adventures. My children loved the sense of freedom to explore and be in nature, while we parents napped and relaxed knowing there was no concerns with traffic etc

Beautiful camping spot
We loved our three nights of camping at Nala pakana. Theresa and Nick's property is secluded and peaceful and they are warm and welcoming hosts. We enjoyed being out in nature, cooking outdoors, having a camp fire and exploring this beautiful part of southern Tasmania. There are walks on the property or you can drive down to Charlotte Cove and walk around to Verona Sands and along the beach. A little further away, there are beautiful tracks at Randalls Bay. Cygnet is only a short drive which has great cafes, art galleries and shops to explore if that is your thing. We also took a drive out to Pagan cider and to Lymington where we found another short walk (4k return) from Gourlays Bay to Poverty Point. We enjoyed our garden tour and all of the beautiful produce that Theresa shared with us. Thank you :-)
