Pine Ridge has been developed over the years to be a natural park land with a good variety of local vegetation including stands of mature trees. lower scrub has been removed for physical and viewing access and to keep the property more secure and manageable. The vegetation also provides significant protection on windy days compared to many other open places. Native animals and birdlife abound the location. There is a community pergola area beside the substantial water hole which has a small jetty allowing easy access for swimming. There is also a stone barbecue and fire pit area available on suitable weather conditions. There are ocean views from the property's main road areas, which also provide a large area of flat firm ground with large areas providing easy maneuverability and turning. The property is 2-3km from the main highway turn off that leads to the Douglas Apsley National Park. The corner of the property is only 50 meters from the park edge, with the Parks main access several km further along Rosedale Rd. The turn off is only 2 km from the town edge. It is sealed road except for the last 100meters and in good condition. FIRES. Ok unless a fire ban. GOOD BAGS OF WOOD ON SITE FOR $20. THERE IS GROUND WOOD THAT CAN BE USED AFTER A BAG IS PURCHASED. IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN WOOD THERE IS A CHARGE OF $10 BECAUSE I STILL HAVE TO CLEAN UP AFTER. Clarity. A site may be able to accommodate several camping vehicles in a group. However each camping vehicle is a separate booking.Site marked "A" covers several acres and has ocean views to the East. The ground is level and firm of native grass over a stone base. To the East the ground gently slopes down to the swimming hole where there is a small jetty, sheltered enclosure and stone barbecue. There is also a fire pit that can be used when regulations allow. Caravans can locate closer to the water hole but not on the grassed area between the Jetty and sheltered enclosure.

A lovely quiet spot to camp .
The place, easy to find , was very quiet and full of birdlife and some lovely kangaroos to wake up to . It is pricy for what you get but it serves not to have too many close neighbors I believe and provided the nature feel. . I am sure the kids would love the small island playground adventure too .

What a little piece of paradise just 5 minutes outside of Bicheno. Tim has put a lot of effort into setting up ‘perfect’ campsites for his hip campers. Not that you’d know anyone else was there as there’s plenty of space and he respects privacy. He met us at the gate and showed us around and recommended some great local sights. We only wished we had more time there to appreciate the lake, the beautiful trees and the wildlife. Definitely hope to return.

Spent two nights at Pine Ridge in our caravan. Had a fantastic level campsite overlooking the dam. Great location, 5 mins to Bicheno and Douglas Asply National Park. Would recommend this Hipcamp.

Happy campers (caravan)
Great spot. Short drive into Bicheno's main centre. Timothy was very welcoming and helpful. We loved that we could have our dog off the lead. It was nice to have a camp fire too. We would stay again.
