This hidden gem located in the heart of Mackay is very private and not visible from the road. As soon as you drive in the front gates, you start to feel exclusively in nature surroundings. A short drive down the driveway and you will be shortly greeted by the local farm animals, continue on and around the dam to your exclusive private camping area by the hut and beautiful shaded gardens where you will be greeted by the caretaker. Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature under the hut, admire the fish in the kids educational pond or try your luck for a Barra down the back in the catch and release dam as you discover the incredible wildlife that call this place home. Walk around your own private 1.4km walking track to capture Australia's amazing Wetland Wildlife or relax at one of the picnic tables throughout the track and take in the beautiful sounds. There are many tropical butterflies, goannas, possums and wildlife in their natural habit to be seen. Birdwatching is also great here with many species including Broglas, Ducks, Kite, Doves and more. Flushing toilet block on site. We are on bore water so you will need to bring your own drinking water or we can arrange this for you, see the additional options when booking. Campers can use the hut basic kitchen with fridge/kettle/electric frypan/plates/cutlery. Power available for light duties such as charging phones or laptops. In the evenings, warm your feet and enjoy toasting marshmallows by the fire. Firepit only permitted and BYO firewood or option to hire and supply wood. We are located close to Mackay Region hotspots: 1 min to local shops/food/fuel Right next door to a Golf Course 3 mins to Mackay Harbour Beach 7 mins to Lamberts Lookout 45 mins to Cape Hillsborough Beach 2 hrs to Airlie BeachYour very own beautiful private campsite all to yourself in the heart of nature. Surround yourself in the world of wetlands with over 100 bird species including home to the Broglas. Guests can enjoy the powered camp kitchen and toilets all to themselves. There is no shower here, Guests will need to be self-contained, take waste with them and leave no trace.

Amazing stay.

5 ft travel trailer

This is one of the best HipCamp sites we have stayed in! The camp site was extremely spacious and could easily support a group (family/friends) with multiple tents/campers/caravans. There were toilets, a kitchen (which we didn't use) and non-potable water. The scenery was spectacular, with plenty of wildlife and beautiful fauna. It was very secluded and afforded us a strong sense of serenity and security, even though it was only 5-10 mins from the shops. Just be sure to bring the aeroguard....it is the wetlands after all! We would definitely stay there again!!

30 ft pop-up camper · With kids

Great quiet place to stop over for a couple of nights. Very close to everything you need in Mackay. Loved going in a hike through the walking trails and the kids enjoyed watching the fish in the educational pond. Access to the kitchen was a big bonus with a charging point for the kids phones. The only down side is that there is not a great deal of room between the front gate and the road so need to be careful when exiting the property with your van, other than that it was a great place to stay and enjoy the wetlands.
