Stonesthrow is a rural property in the Illinbah valley, nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, with council approval for limited camping (4WD only - leave no trace). So if you want to escape the crowds at public campgrounds, your privacy and enjoyment are assured! We are NOT a 4WD park so vehicles must be parked up at your site on arrival and left there unless leaving the property to go to town/tourist activities. Any exploration of the property or travel to toilets is strictly on foot only- NO 4WD'ing. Anyone driving around the property will be asked to leave. There is 500 m of (shallow) creek frontage, kms of walking/riding trails and grassy creek flats for recreational activities. Over the decades, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses. There is also a variety of fruit trees and plantation timber. Caravans are restricted on where they can access- with no guarantee of sufficient sunlight for solar. Elevated/remote sites cannot be reached with a caravan- please bear this in mind if booking with a caravan. Elevated/remote sites require capable 4WD's with off-road/AT/mud tyres only and campers need to be fully self-sufficient including having their own chemical camping toilets. If you don't have your own commercial chemical camping toilet then you will be given a choice of sites with access to facilities. We reserve the right to view/verify your toilet before allowing you access to the elevated/remote sites. Well behaved dogs welcome as long as they are on a lead when moving about the property. The common area (old shearing shed) has composting toilets, communal fridge, microwave, jug, drinking water, sink for washing up and table/chairs. When booking - please read the property rules carefully.Stonesthrow Bush Camping suits self-contained 4WD campers with camper trailer/tent. Campsites should be selected based on weather, personal preference and size required. Bring all that you need and remove all rubbish upon leaving. All sites are unpowered. Access to power, camp kitchen (including fridge and water) and portaloos are available at the 'Shearing Shed' (common area). The property is very private, offering peace of mind and security. When booking - please read the property rules carefully.  Dogs are welcome however we ask that you please discuss this with us first.

Close to Brisbane!
Only a short drive from Brisbane. Such a beautiful property to camp on. We camped by the creek near the entrance and it was perfect. Steve is super friendly, I'll be coming back to camp at the top ridge because the view is unreal!! 10/10

Stonesthrow Bush Camping
This is the third time I've stayed at Stonesthrow and each time has been awesome. This time was with a very large group, and even with the rain, we saw so much and had a great stay. Koalas, Possums, Whipbirds, Wallabies, and Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos were all wildlife highlights. Seeing a Yellow-bellied Glider on a spotlighting walk just made it exceptional. Steve was very understanding that with so many people, and the weather, plus long-weekend visitors on the site before us, the ground got pretty slushy. We were trialling a big camper trailer, so didn't need the shed facilities much in the end, but it was great to know they were there if we did. All in all, can't recommend this place enough. Hopefully we'll be back!
