Stonesthrow is a rural property in the Illinbah valley, nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, with council approval for limited camping (4WD only - leave no trace). So if you want to escape the crowds at public campgrounds, your privacy and enjoyment are assured! We are NOT a 4WD adventure park so vehicles must be parked up at your site on arrival and left there unless leaving the property to go to town/tourist activities. Any exploration of the property or travel to toilets is strictly on foot only- NO 4WD'ing. Anyone driving around the property will be asked to leave. We have sites both near the creek and facilities and up on the plateau. Our elevated/remote sites require capable 4WD's with off-road/AT tyres and campers need to be fully self-sufficient including having their own sealed chemical camping toilet and an ensuite/privacy tent. If you don't have your own commercial chemical camping toilet then you will be given a choice of sites with access to facilities. We reserve the right to view/verify your toilet before allowing you access to the elevated/remote sites. Caravans are restricted on where they can access- with no guarantee of sufficient sunlight for solar. Elevated/remote sites cannot be reached with a caravan- please bear this in mind if booking with a caravan. Well behaved dogs are welcome as long as they are on a lead when moving about the property. Please let us know if you wish to bring a dog and you will be allocated an appropriate site as some areas of the property are designated 'dog-free' camping zones. The common area (old shearing shed) has composting toilets, communal fridge, microwave, jug, drinking water, sink for washing up and table/chairs. There is 500 m of (shallow) creek frontage, kms of walking/riding trails and grassy creek flats for recreational activities. Over the decades, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses. There is also a variety of fruit trees and plantation timber. When booking - please read the property rules carefully.Stonesthrow Bush Camping suits self-contained 4WD campers with camper trailer/tent. Campsites should be selected based on weather, personal preference and size required. Bring all that you need and remove all rubbish upon leaving. All sites are unpowered. Access to power, camp kitchen (including fridge and water) and portaloos are available at the 'Shearing Shed' (common area). The property is very private, offering peace of mind and security. When booking - please read the property rules carefully.  Dogs are welcome however we ask that you please discuss this with us first.

Stonesthrow Bush Camping
Great place to camp with toilets nearby for our site and there was only one other camper within view despite being school holidays. Reception for my phone was bad (I enjoyed that) however my other campmates were good. Brought two dogs, kept them mostly on leash, everything went perfect for them. Brought toilet paper just in case but the long drops had enough for our 3day camp. Lovely views and amazing wildlife!

Great sites, plenty of space and still private. Had three kids under 4 in tow and they absolutely loved the littles creeks and animals. Would definitely recommend.

Stonesthrow Bush Camping
A beautiful spot with the most incredible bird life I have ever heard, I absolutely loved waking up each morning to their songs. Steve was so lovely and accomodating and the property is very close to Canungra, great for a cheeky pie wish is delish. Highly recommend doing the drive out to O’Reilly too for some unreal views and beautiful roads. Will definitely be back to check out some of the other camp spots at Stonesthrow!
