I was told that as I journeyed around Australia I would find a place to settle and Maryvale on the Darling Downs was love at first sight. I am happy to share my love for this property and welcome travellers to enjoy the tranquillity of the riverside and enjoy some of the walks and other features of the area. Welcome to She-oak Hideaway, located in Maryvale by the riverside. The riverside is a peaceful place with two large camping areas and firepits. There are 2 large waterholes suitable for swimming, fishing and kayaking. Down by the riverside you will see Water dragons, ducks, swamp hens, many birds, occasional Wallabies and Koala. Most afternoons the local Rikali (Australias Otter) can be seen diving for Yabbies. We are an 11 minute drive to the very popular Main range national Park which has some beautiful hiking trails and is the perfect place for a picnic. We have a great country pub close by as well which is a short walk down a country lane. Pets are welcome but please ensure they are under your control and that you clean up after them. Campers must be self sufficient with their own toilet. Rubbish bins are provided for campers and a treated rain water tap is available. Kayaks and life jackets are available on request. 1 - 10 Amp power connection is also available on request. Please contact me for early arrival time.Welcome to She-Oak Hideaway, located in Maryvale by the riverside. The riverside is a peaceful place with two large camping areas, campfires and hot plates. The sites are flat with plenty of space to maneuver vehicles. There are 2 large waterholes suitable for swimming, fishing and kayaking.  Down by the riverside you will see Water dragons, turtles, ducks, swamp hens, many birds, Rakali, plus occasional Wallabies and Koala.  Rakali, a native water-rat - (Australia's otter) can often be seen collecting Yabbies and mussels then returning to the river bank to enjoy the feast. There are plenty of Yabbies in the creek and try your luck at fishing for silver perch and catfish. PLEASE DO NOT USE CLOSED TRAPS AS THESE HAVE DROWNED WATER DRAGONS, RAKALI AND TURTLE! Please enquire about open top traps I have available. The more adventurous can cross the creek and take the lane into Maryvale for a 20min walk each way.  Pets are welcome but please ensure they are under your control and that you clean up after them. A rubbish bin is provided for campers and a treated rain water tap is available. 4 kayaks and life jackets are available on request.  Arrival and departure times can be flexible, Please contact me for more information. Please be aware that the peace is often disturbed by the laughter of the kookaburra, the song of butcher birds, the chatter of noisy minors and sounds from the road which is barely noticable down by the creek. Your Hosts, Paul and Cheryl wish to make your stay enjoyable and will be here to assist wherever we can.

Great spot close to civilisation
Great level spot near the creek. Paul was a great host, very friendly and kept me informed about rain leading up to our stay. Even with good rain the days before we went, the ground was well drained. We had room to set up badminton and used the kayaks Paul provided to have a paddle it the creek. The eggs, honey and firewood were excellent.

An adbundance of wildlife
Lovely soft green grass. Short walk to the Maryvale Hotel. Paul was an excellent host and very in touch with nature. We saw an abundance of wildlife. Plenty of butterflies, wild ducks, hares, goanna's, water dragons, eastern rosella's, plenty of catfish and even a surprise visit from a small turtle. Water was lovely and deep and fresh to swim in. Got some Eggs and honey from Paul. Honey was amazing! Only a small amount of road noise, barely noticed it. thanks was a beautiful stay.

We just had a very relaxing weekend with great friends by the creek and sometimes in it to cool off. We had a campfire to chill out around after dinner with a few drinks. There’s plenty of level grassy areas to set up on overlooking the creek with heaps of bird life and the odd wallaby coming down for a drink. Paul and Cheryl were very welcoming and also had Firewood, eggs and honey for sale which was a good touch We definitely recommend is Hipcamp property and look forward to coming again soon. Thanks again Paul and Cheryl for sharing your beautiful property with us. Cheers Rick and Cathy Edwards
