Welcome to our lush 9 acre Hobby Farm Stay property overlooking the Brisbane River with horses, ducks, geese and chickens. Experience the joys of farm life, feeding the animals, collecting eggs and relaxing under the mango trees. You can choose a private campsite tucked away out of sight of the main house, shaded by mango and orange trees. If you choose to camp in the open away from the trees, the house will be in sight, but we live a quiet life and will respect your privacy. The site is perfect for couples and family/friend groups. We can accommodate, tents, campers trailers, caravans and RV's. Being so close to the CBD the site is a great option for 'shake down' short stays for your new caravan or camper trailer. If you're new to camping this is a great place to ease into a lifestyle that offers so many opportunities further afield. You won't have to share the campsite with other campers, you will have the spot all to yourselves. There is a large flat grassy area for kids to play and ride bikes. Please keep in mind that this is a 'Farm Stay', you will be camping on a working property which is also our big back yard. Your privacy is assured, however, if you are looking for total seclusion, this may not be the Hipcamp property for you. Supermarket, bottle shop, takeaways, cafe and pharmacy less that 4 km away. Campfires are permitted. Firewood is available as an 'extra' for $20, if you would like a bundle please amend your booking to include firewood. Power (10amp 0nly) and water is available close to your campsite, but you must bring your own camping toilet. Daily water usage is included in your booking fee. Long range water tank fill ups incur a one off extra fee of $10, please include this in your booking under extras. We are friendly hosts who will respect your privacy and welcome your children to participate in farmyard feeding times and egg collecting (less eggs in winter). Our geese and ducks and chickens are hand reared so they are not aggressive at all 😃 We have two Sausage dogs, Ockie and Arlo. Ockie especially likes to visit campers, Arlo is a little less social but she may visit if she musters up the courage. This is their home so if you aren't doggy people perhaps this isn't the campsite for you. Please keep your food and rubbish up high so the doggos and other critters don't help themselves. Horse riding lessons are available by prior arrangement. Please give 7 days notice prior to your stay should you wish to book a riding lesson. No dogs please, Ockie and Arlo are the masters of their domain and don't like doggy interlopers. Awesome if you like wildlife! We saw a sugar glider, doves, cockatoos, two tawny frogmouths, and of course the resident sausage dogs, who were delightful. Owners were lovely and it was a peaceful place.

Affordable bush camp close to town
This Hipcamp feels like a slice of heaven away from the city - yet is just a few winding bends away from all the conveniences we needed. We enjoyed using the Moggil Ferry whenever heading S/SE/SW/W (car fee is $2 cash each way), and used Moggil Rd for all other directions. We enjoyed interacting with Melissa's therapy horse, Zena, and her numerous shy ducks and friendly geese. Plenty of wildlife around too, being close to the river, so cockatoos, small birds, and a couple of leathery cords were seen slithering by - all unaffected by our presence and just happy doing there thing. Melissa's very timid sausage dogs, Arlo and Ockie, liked to visit us regularly too, and if you don't fancy having Arlo being the pilot of your camp chair, then simply collapse it to the side while you're away 😊 Both pups quickly learned that they weren't going to score any treats from us, and so visited us much less by the end of our stay. We can only recall one evening / morning where we had biting insects .. the other days seemed fine. Hit tip: please wear thick-soled shoes / thongs, as there seems to be a seed that falls from the trees, about a pea size, with long and VERY sharp barnacles that will pierce your footwear. So, avoid bare feet! Melissa's firewood burns really well and smells devine! We are grateful to Melissa and Robert for allowing us to camp on their property, and although our site was close to the back of their home, we felt assured of complete privacy and security at all times.
