The Highfields Pioneer Village covers an area of 20 acres of picturesque grounds with over 70 buildings of historic interest, pleasant surroundings and picnic facilities. It is located just 15kms north of Toowoomba. Our property is part of the Highfields Pioneer Village* complex located just 20 minutes from Toowoomba. This campsite is a wonderful place to rest whilst taking in the scenic surroundings of the village which is the home of the Big Cow.  Visit the Toowoomba Fire Brigade Museum which houses an historic collection of memorabilia, documenting the story of the people who have worked every day to keep us safe from fires since 1877. The collection includes Uniforms, Badges & patches, historical records & photographs and over 6 Historic Fire Engine Vehicles, Apparatus, Models & Collectibles. Visit the iconic Ambulance Museum that tells the story of Ambulance services in Queensland. We are within easy reach of Highland Falls which has some great walking tracks and view points of the falls. Pets are also permitted in this bushland area but must be on a leash. We are just 3 mins from local shops, McDonald's, KFC. This is the perfect spot for those who want to wind down and escape the hustle and bustle. We have amenities available and pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times. Sorry, no campfires. Bush Camping. *Tickets to the Village are optional and can be purchased onsite from the Kiosk. Recommended time to view the Pioneer Village is at least 2 hours.

Highfields Pioneer Village
Great spot with some limitations
I quite like staying here and regularly do. There’s lots of great features. It’s always quiet and the animals are fun, lots of space and easy to pull up. However, the recent installation of a timer, which is very very short, maybe 4 minutes? if that, for the shower is totally ridiculous. By time the water stabilizes there is barely time to wash your hair. Some facilities have coin operated timers that are $1 for 4 minutes, maybe this would be a better option. I truly can’t see how the extra money is justified between ‘with shower/toilet and without’. Also, I can live without power, however it is exceptionally dark at night without any lighting whatsoever on the field . Overall though, a great place. I will stay again in the hope they remove the timer device.

Lovely stay
Nice and quiet camping with plenty of space, showers were hot and toilet showers were clean and tidy. Host are very friendly and helpful when we needed any help. Lovely old buildings in the pioneer village. Everything was safe to leave outside of caravan. Potable water available for jug, kettle. We sourced our water at sports ground near by and bought back to fill caravan tanks. Everything is close by for super market and fuel. Only 15 minutes to Toowoomba shopping centre. Loved our stay and weather was pleasant for July /August whilst we were there.
