THE GUMS
Great weekend away
Great quiet place to stay for a few days the Gums is easy access for a motorhome. There is some nice walking, the Mary river is easily accessible via the wide track to it, the river is deeps enough to cool of and there looks to be some nice paddling to be had going upstream.

Gundy Getaway what an absolute beautiful spot . Heaps of camping spots to choose from. Toilets showers fire pits. A very beautiful fresh water flowing creek to have a swim fish or kayak in. Definitely a hidden little gem that's for sure. Chris the owner is an absolute lovely bloke very easy going and super friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a beautiful camping trip away in the bush Definitely 100% visit the Gundy Getaway Camp Ground you will not be disappointed 🏕🍻👍

A kayak angler's Nirvana
Chris & Christine's property is along a magnificent stretch of the Mary River that even includes a section of rapids. "The Mary" is home to some of Australia's most loved freshwater sportfish, bass, Sooty Grunter, Saratoga and of course, the Mary River Cod. It is a kayak angler's Nirvana as "Gundy Getaway" has good access to the river where other camping grounds do not because of the river's very steep banks. This is our first stay at "Gundy Getaway and although the fishing was reportedly "tougher than usual" my brother and I still managed to catch quality bass and sooties with both surface and diving hard body lures. There are some big fish in the river that live in fallen timber along the river's banks and some were unstoppable. The camping grounds are excellent with lots of flat areas and plenty of room to spread out and relax. We are hooked and will definitely be back!
