Sunrise 3
Sunrise 3 is in a great position near the amenities and the beach.
The amenities are great as well.
We will stay there again.

Sunset Site 1
Enjoyed stay but not returning soon
Great communication, response to messages & Directions to campsite leading up to the day. We were greeted by the caretaker. She took us to camping spots which was confusing as it the camps spaces are not set out as it is set out on the map on Hipcamp. We thought we would be in the paddock as on the map. The campsites were actually in numerical order on the otherside of the road. We had booked Sunset 1 & 8 as they were together on the map, they were not together. If there was other campers in the other spots, our campsites would have been separated, and we would have been very disappointed. I think it could be changed on the booking map to clearly reflect where the campsites are. The caretaker said I have moved you to campsite 13/14 which also added to our confusion. The Sunset 13/14 was peaceful with lovely views of surrounding bush & kangaroos. The land was prickle filled grass (very hard on one of the dogs) or dirt/sand. It is far from amenities which we knew before we arrived, so you would ride bike or drive car upto the toilet. Portaloo would be great. There were holes in the shower walls between stalls that were open or only filled with putty. For safety these should be fixed. We had multiple people coming from different places so had multiple cars, was told there was no room at the camping sites for extra cars, that they may be able to accommodate elsewhere on property. There was a completely empty paddock next to us the whole trip.

What a cracker of a holiday destination. The family had a great time and the caretaker Gary was an absolute champion! The Traeger grills are a brilliant addition and we will definitely be coming back next year with a decent brisket. Thanks for sharing such a fantastic property.

Sunrise Site 2
An awesome location
An awesome spot in a beautiful location.
Sunrise 2 is the pick of the spots in the area as it has absolute wetland frontage, but is just a little bit covered from the beach, in case of a lot of wind.
The facilities are magnificent with beautiful warm showers, good toilets and a camp kitchen with 5, yes 5 pellet smokers, for anyone looking to smoke some meat. There is a group fridge, lounge area, sink, oven and microwave in addition.
The beach is right there, and amazing for long walks. There’s no surf as you are inside K’gari, but it is still beautiful with amazing shells on the beach.
Incredibly dog friendly and just about everybody there had dogs, which was awesome.
There is an awesome little group campfire and dotted around the campground are little raised campfires available to use.
Burrum heads 5 minutes down the road has a good works, coffee shop, bakery and a butcher if you want to pick up some meat to smoke. There is also a guy in Town selling fresh fish if that’s your thing.
The only downside is that this place is soooo popular it’s hard to get another booking up front in the beachfront or sunrise sites, without 6 months notice, particularly on weekends. Some of the other areas are a bit of a hike if you need to use the facilities, but all good if you are fully self contained.
Overall a great spot and if you can get in go for it, you won’t regret it.
