Come and set up camp on the this 5000 acre property on the banks of the Annan River. The property has over 8kms of river frontage and is used primarily to run livestock. Campers can enjoy fishing and swimming here, there are no crocs. The Lions Den Hotel is across the River, where you can enjoy a meal and a drink. The property is a 25 minute drive to Cooktown and a 35 minute drive to Lakeland. Cooktown and Cape York Peninsula has a wealth of natural beauty, a rich and diverse culture and colourful pioneering history. Renown for some truly adventurous 4WD experiences and great outdoor camping, Cape York Peninsula is a favourite with keen fishing enthusiasts, history buffs and those getting away from it all. There are no facilities here, campers must be self contained and leave no trace. There is a public toilet a short drive up the highway nearby the Annan Gorge bridge.

Annan River Camping
Great Camping Spot
Great place to relax. We stayed 2 nights and it was so quiet and relaxing. Annan river not too far away for a swim. Close to The Lions Den if you dont feel like cooking. Great hosts with heaps of local knowledge.

Annan River Camping
Lilly-Bong
Peaceful camp spot beside a Lilly pad billabong. We enjoyed our stay in the natural raw-bush environment. However the Annan River is about 10 kilometres from this camp site. Clancy mentioned they are opening up the river camp sites in the near future, It sounds like we were a bit unlucky and arrived a little too early. Current access into property from highway may be a bit tricky for non off-road vehicles.. Annan River Camping I will look forward to in the future.
