Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Charleston is a quaint and vibrant beach community. Just five minutes away is the research center and interactive marine center for the Oregon Institute for Marine Biology. Children and adults delight at the opportunity to touch live marine specimens in touch tanks. Visitors can enjoy delicious fresh seafood along with prepared chowder and smoked goods at the local vendors just minutes away down by the dock. Surfing, Sailing, boating, kayaking, fishing, crabbing and many more sea activites are just minutes away at the popular Sunset Beach and surrounding areas. Our special "cloud" project is a community purchased community campground and art and nature space dedicated to saving trees from clear cutting. You can read more about us, and possible investment opportunities on our website. Our private forest campsite rests in a clear cut of trees peeking down at the ocean and estuary. Natural wildlife abounds in this fairyland, with turkey tail and other medicinal and culinary mushrooms abundant for foraging. The open prairie-type setting of the center offers plenty of warmth if desired. Campers can retreat to the edges of the estuary site for cool and protection in trees. Star gazing here is an absolute delight! Hike through the woods and down to the estuary for a nice kayak or boat ride. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out camp space! Please bring your own water and manage your own human waste. The surrounding 45 acres are part of what is established as a community owned project named "the cloud". Eventual road building and site clearing will be in process. Greenhouses, zip lines, cabins, and community cooking spaces will be established in a few years' time. Stay tuned!

Private Ocean Estuary Forest Camp
Where is 7th? I couldn’t figure out where the spot was? I drove up and down to see it. I saw one sign for one spot, but not for mine? There was supposed to be 2 blue signs, I only saw one. My 24’ van towing a Jeep could never have made that right turn. An address would have been good. And much much better instructions about how to get in on the road and where to go. I went to a state park instead.

Private Ocean Estuary Forest Camp
Undeveloped camping spot, sweet hos
The host, host's friends, and dogs were all super sweet and wonderful to interact with! If you're in need of a place to pitch a tent, it's definitely an option, but I wouldn't recommend this to a friend. There was no toilet or potable water, so it's equivalent to staying on BLM or forest service land for free, but we paid $60/night. We only saw 1 option for pitching a tent that wasn't super rockey. This spot is a much better option for a self contained RV than tents.
